Looks like he's lost a bit of weight or trimmed down and looks a couple of yards quicker than last season! Hope he carries on in this form as he seems like a good happy guy around the place as well

Starting to look more and more like the man to solve our defensive midfield issues.
His debut at Newcastle last season was fantastic, he was quick to cover the ground, excellent in the tackle and made that crucial block to stop a goal. The injury was clearly destructive and he also admitted to struggling with the pace in general and concentration required for 90minutes in the prem. He's getting closer to that form and will be much needed in our tougher games and the CL. Hope to see him start in Seville, will need that defensive cover. If Juve and we both win then we're through to the knockouts with two games left. Coming away with a point at least should be our mentality. We just need to be better on the counter than we were at the swamp.

Totally agree, the last sentence especially.Said after the spuds game we set up all wrong we really need to sit in and exploit the pace off kun, sterling
and navas and the passing precision of kdb, yaya and silva in the trickier games.
At spuds you know they'll come at you so pick them off the difference with the scum was they want to sit in as well (disgraceful for the club they claim to be and playing at home) so we have to learn to adapt.
We may not have won at the swamp but if the players play the tough matches in this style more often I'm sure we'll improve at it and Seville would be
another good opportunity to try and fine tune it.
Really think this could be be the difference in us competing at the serious end of champs league.

His industry is phenominal. He closes down his man and when the ball is passed on, he carries on till they go backwards.
He holds up play so good. Plus he is looking to get forward more and is looking so much more energetic.

Think he struggled with injuries and the pace and hetic schedule of the league! All seems fine now and he is playing out of his skin! Means we can give yaya a rest now instead of playing him every game.

He's been terrific this season. Good with the ball as well and could have had a couple of assists so far. Think he should start on the bench against Norwich though, but against Seville he must start.

I think that is a bit much to be honest, it’s just a certain group of posters who don’t appreciate that footballers are human beings rather than machines you can just take out of the box flick a switch and watch them go
To be fair he was terrible for an entire season, the criticism wasn't exactly kneejerk...

And the fact he was playing injured all season, unknown to the wider world, surely vindicates his critics?

Still, let's hope that's all behind him and he provides the valuable option to the squad he was bought for, as its something we really lacked last year.

Great improvement on last season and now the stopper I thought he could be.
My issues always have been the subsequent transition to attack after winning the ball.
Passes to City players must be quicker, longer and mostly in a forward direction - rather than short, sideways or backwards - so we can break out of defense more quickly.
Similarly when the opposition fall back in front of him and block the passing options he has to advance into the space and possibly run at the opposion to draw defenders towards him and create space further upfield.
A massive improvement last night on the attacking transition thing BUT equally he was poor against Utd in this respect.
Keep up the improvement!
