Player topic: Frank Lampard (2014/15)

Saw that earlier today. Lampard comes across well, the Stoke fans less so. Nice to see him have the last laugh with the goal.

So, ownership decided to alienate the entire NYCFC support by keeping Lampard till the end of the season. I understand, he has won the champions league and they want his experience, but if you aren't even going to play him against Barcelona and there are 5 guys better than him at his position just let him go already!

At the time the ''deal'' was made permanent City were firing on 3 frontiers for the PL, FA Cup and Champions League - also with Yaya away in the African Cup, so that was one of the reasons why he was wanted for the rest of the season (and yes I understand the annoyance caused in NY as a result).
I would suspect (but maybe wrong) now the transfer window has shut he can't move until the end of the season now.
He isn't going to be with you until then so may as well just get on with it unfortunately.

He'll be here until his usefulness to Manchester City has passed and then he'll be passed on to attract the gloryhunters over the next 5 years in the US.

He'll serve City's purposes at both points.

Brace yourself for a warm welcome such as city fans have got off our American counterparts! Obviously it wasn't a perfect start to lampards career in the mls but big brother needed him at the time! Nycfc and mcfc have THE best owner in the world now and next year alongside villa, lampard etc will sign xavi and 2 more world top players for nycfc due to contacts outside the mls! Mcfc will ALWAYS come before nycfc but we support nycfc as one of our own even though most fans are rag, red dipper and chelski gloryhunters! Maybe if them fans backed the most successful english team in the last 5 years then respect would be given back!

We're supporters. We don't get a say in what happens to Lampard.

I'm not sure you could have found a greater supporter of the whole CFG concept than me when it was announced and the whole NYCFC club. I even politiked on here for a NYCFC/Melbourne subforum and planned to go to NYCFC's first game.

Then I read opinions of their fans.

Now I have no interest at all in NYCFC and actually hope that they crash and burn. Never have I found a more entitled group of "supporters" than in New York and how badly they misunderstand what football support is about.

A collection of fairweather gloryhunters looking for a real experience yet not understanding that their fairweather nature makes this impossible for them. Even their supporter groups are doing it wrong. Everything about them is cheap and manufactured, and they don't GET IT as to why.

Decision has been made, and I think a degree of trust in CFG has been lost. I think it was the wrong decision, but theres no point revisiting it every time he plays or doesnt. Hopefully in the long run he'll be seen as a player that was good contributor towards a successful MCFC and NYCFC. If that happens the fact he turned up a few months late won't matter so much.
