Player topic: Jesus Navas (2014/15)

Re: Jesus Navas, good but.....

All fingering no fucking.

Gets to where he should be crossing after doing the hard work getting there, then turns back, and back again, and kicks it against the defender for a corner - which Nasri fails to get the ball over three feet off the ground!

Re: Jesus Navas, good but.....

Stayed out wide and helped to keep our shape. Worked hard and got a few decent crosses in. That is his role in the side and he did it well as always.

No need mate
What did Navas do what a winger should do ?

Keep the ball, put a cross in when appropriate, help his full back which he does every week
I know Zabs likes to get forward but I'm sure any help would need to come from the other side of halfway (from left to right);

It's no coincidence Roma were not just targeting but having some success attacking down our right hand side in the first half.

Re: Jesus Navas, good but.....

Is what he is - a hugely frustrating player. Capable of moments of real quality, but also of performances like that today - honestly can't recall him doing a single thing right.

Paradoxically, I still think we should have started him though - without Aguero, we need someone who can stretch defences and create more space for Silva and Nasri. The front four today was horribly one paced.

He was absolute dogshit in the short time he was on today. Poorly weighted passing, brainless clearances to colleagues under pressure (the one near the end on the edge of our box where he had two options; twat it 60 yards to safety, or play a risky, waist high, nightmare of a short pass to a tightly marked Silva......and duly attempted the second of the two), running up blind alleys, failing to ever go past an opponent, you name it. Thought it was a poor decision to bring him on to be honest. There's only a point to Navas if you've got a proper forward on the pitch for him to whip the ball into, and today we didn't have one.

Re: Jesus Navas, good but.....

I can't believe he has his boots on the right feet, as for where his brain is, fook knows, hes gash!

Re: Jesus Navas, good but.....

Having Navas is a bit like owning a racing car and driving it at 30 miles an hour! What is the point of all that pace if he won't just push the ball into the acres of green grass behind the left back and burn the grass! At very least he'd damage the opposition by drawing yellow cards but he just turns back and passes it to our left back from the right wing.

Re: Jesus Navas, good but.....

Again today. His work rate is first class, faultless, but I'm afraid his finishing products are woeful, very woeful, shoots when he should pass, passes whe he should shoot, runs all over the field from the corner flag to the centre circle with the ball at his feet and not a clue what he's going to do with it.

He should be a 70th minute substitute to give the opposition something different (because he is different) and unconventional to think about.

What a talent he would be if he could just bloody finish! I mean he could have scored 8 goals this season alone and be up there with the best.

He really needs to work on this in training.
