There's prob 60-70 games to play in all competitions, between RS, SN, KDB,DS and Navas. I'd keep him until next season as he'll get 15-20 games for us..
It's a game of 11 players mate, not every player in the team needs to be world class, he fulfils the roll he is asked to play and is very good at it, just when fans expect him to find our one 5ft 7 striker in a crowded box of opposition defenders I think he is hard done byTell me what is the purpose of a footballer who "does fuck all with the ball and can't shoot for shit?". Without these basic fundamentals, his contribution in terms of running around a lot and providing supporting cover to the full-back are always going to be overlooked unless he can add a credible and sustained offensive threat to his game.
+1I don't think I've witnessed a player quite as underrated by his own fans as our Jesus Navas. What I think a lot of fans don't get is that he is a genuine out and out right midfielder, a dying breed of player these days. He always looks to move forward as quickly as possible and by hugging the touchline he gives silva a lot more space to work with. Yes he doesn't do the Adam Johnson ten step overs before beating his man and doing fuck all with the ball and yes he can't shoot for shit but the job he does for the team is vital regardless of whether he's starting games or coming off the bench. There is also a myth that he can't cross which I think is down to a lack of movement and options in the box, he amazingly plays much better when we play two up front which is obviously no coincidence. He works as hard as anyone just without the praise James Milner got for doing the same amount of work. Our new man KDB may shove him out our best 11 but I think navas deserves far more praise than he gets from city fans
If Sergio could finish, Jesus would have some assists to his name already.
Nope, Sergio's not quite fit yet in that his shooting boots are still little off, with no preseason (see Watford-seems to have found them with Argentina tho').I agree with 99% of this. But blaming Navas' shortcomings on the most clinical player in the league's lack of ability to finish seems odd. Unless my sarcasm radar is malfunctioning.
+1
Navas has outlasted Negredo, stayed despite his family returning back to Spain, been dropped by Del Bosque, and now probably ousted from the starting 11. Yes, he is compensated very nicely, but he could easily go back home to a starting role. Instead, he's decided to fight for his place. He deserves a lot more recognition.
If Sergio could finish, Jesus would have some assists to his name already. His good defensive work has brought balance along with Sterling. I think we'll see that difference with KDB, who like Silva, is not known for being very defensive. People dream of KDB, Silva and Sterling being to able to drift and interchange, but who's going to cover? I agree KDB is better overall, but I think there's too much moaning and complaining about Jesus when he brings solidity and opportunity. Believe me, Navas frustrates me too, but he's shown a good attitude for being a team player when it'd be so easy to down tools. Coming off the bench, I think he'd shatter some defenders. I hope he stays and reaps many rewards at the end of the season.
He wouldnt get anywhere near the starting elevans of the top sides so wouldnt call him underated. He cant beat a man, doesnt score goals and his final ball is usually dreadful. He has some qualities such as his touch, good footballing brain and defensive work but im glad we've finally bought a huge upgrade in KDB.I don't think I've witnessed a player quite as underrated by his own fans as our Jesus Navas.
