He was great against Chelsea and would have added to his assists if Sergio had been sharper. He loves the near post and no one really makes that run. Think in terms of value he's been one our best signings can't think off a better squad player else where. But he does drive me mad taking unnecessary touches before crossing.

All this "his cross hits first man "... ffs we don't have tall forward who is good in the air to put on some high crosses.

Mate, he was dreadful against west ham. So many times players had pulled to the six yard box and he hit it at the keeper. He had chances to play it first time but took a touch and allowed the defender to recover then he kicked it against him. He doesn't look up. Just hits and hopes. He has no intelligence from an attacking perspective.

And the tall man argument holds no water, he's just as bad when Dzeko played. I remember the 2-1 away at palace last year. Carbon copy of the west ham game.

How many games did he play with Dzeko?
How many times Dzeko got in good position?

So it's not that he doesn't have a tall target man? It's everyone's fault bar Navas that he hits the first man 90% of the time? This may hold true if he was putting the ball in good areas but he isn't. He is hitting the first man.

There is a fine line between, having a tall target and having a tall target in a good position.

Doesn't matter. He fails to get the ball into the area full stop. Kolarov sometimes doesn't have a direct line to a player so he whips it in to a dangerous area. He plays the percentages. Navas has never done that.
I'm not sure how you can argue that he doesn't hit the first man. He does. He is obviously trying to cross the ball, regardless of where anyone is positioned, the fact is he rarely succeeds.

Coincidence Spain have became a bit shite compared to how they were? Probably. But it's a strange one. He'd offer even them something different, why he's ignored when the team are (by their standards) struggling a bit is beyond me.

Buy a Nasri type player and the game slows down again. We wanted sterling for ages to have pace and a direct approach on each side so I assume that's still the case. If so, then who's available that's as good as or better than Navas that's a similar type of player?

Agree, missing player who has 1600 minutes in Spain team in last 6 years must be a reason for Spain not being as good as before. It doesn't have anything with Puyol retiring, Xavi being grandpa, Iniesta closer to that, Alonso not in his best days, Casillas being average and Torres being shit recently. It's Navas they miss.

Strangely enough he hardly ever loses the ball until he gets into the box when he rarely keeps it!
As mentioned above I think that the WHU game maybe some sort of watershed moment when he becomes more productive or becomes a regular sub.
