Mate, he was dreadful against west ham. So many times players had pulled to the six yard box and he hit it at the keeper. He had chances to play it first time but took a touch and allowed the defender to recover then he kicked it against him. He doesn't look up. Just hits and hopes. He has no intelligence from an attacking perspective.

And the tall man argument holds no water, he's just as bad when Dzeko played. I remember the 2-1 away at palace last year. Carbon copy of the west ham game.
Doesn't matter. He fails to get the ball into the area full stop. Kolarov sometimes doesn't have a direct line to a player so he whips it in to a dangerous area. He plays the percentages. Navas has never done that.
I'm not sure how you can argue that he doesn't hit the first man. He does. He is obviously trying to cross the ball, regardless of where anyone is positioned, the fact is he rarely succeeds.

so when kolarov whips with no target ,isn't that hits and hopes?

Agree, missing player who has 1600 minutes in Spain team in last 6 years must be a reason for Spain not being as good as before. It doesn't have anything with Puyol retiring, Xavi being grandpa, Iniesta closer to that, Alonso not in his best days, Casillas being average and Torres being shit recently. It's Navas they miss.

What's with the mass exaggeration to make your point? It doesn't make it any more right. I did say it's probably coincidence, didn't I?

I remember watching Spain lose to Slovakia 2-1 early this year or late last year and they were completely devoid of any width. This was part of an article from newspaper reports the following day:

"
Some commentators argue that Spain are too narrow to give Costa the service he requires.

Vicente del Bosque’s decision to drop Manchester City’s Jesus Navas was one that puzzled most commentators and with Andres Iniesta and David Silva on the wings – both preferring to come inside with the ball – there is a lack of decent service into the striker from wide areas."

So yes, to some extent, they do miss Jesus Navas when he's not playing. He's not an outrageous world class player, but what he provides would be missed by any team.

The long and short of it is; if the ball goes in the area there's a chance something could happen that will lead to a goal. If the ball doesn't go in to the area there is no chance. Navas rarely gets the ball in the area.

He gets the ball in the area all the time. Often it gets blocked but quite often it gets through to the near post & nobody is there. Aguero moved into that position once last night & Navas found him straight away. He missed as he has on several occasions when set up by Navas.

I agree. There was one occasion last night when he broke down the right and hoofed a high ball into the danger area only to find no City players in the box.

looked like he had more freedom tonight, was making different runs and getting on the ball in different areas, unafraid to be more direct into the box and shoot, hopefully he keeps that up as he was a lot more dangerous doing that, won a penalty and warmed the keeper's palms.

All this talk about Navas ? - Someone will say defenders shouldn't be in his way. He often hits the first man ,people say ,what should he do ?.- if teams put 8 or 9
in defence. I think he is very good for our team. He certainly puts in a good shift. Nowhere have I read that during the first half against Wham he chased back and took the ball off a Wham player , just on the edge of our box - played the ball into Ferny or maybe Yaya and when City finally played the ball out wide - Navas was on to it. He must have covered 60 yards - there and back. No credit from any media or even our fans.

Yep....brilliant move. Navas was 20 yards behind play and blasted into space down the right when he received the ball back. Counter attacking play at it's best.

Problem was he hit the first man when he crossed :) He was trying to find Kun who checked. it was the first crowd groan of the day for Navas but Kun actually applauded him for the effort.
