Player Topic: Navas.....

A withering assessment of a very good player. You may find him frustrating but i, and more importantly MP, see him as a very valuable team player.

Er, I did say "Pace, check. Skill, check. Work rate, check. Attitde, check. Willingness to get back and defend, check. He does so much right and really helps stretch play.

He's got everything in the kitbag to be a really top drawer wing player
".

That's not VERY withering is it. And I never said I didn't see him as a valuable team player. He is!

He's a good player no doubt, but ultimately a limited one and he could be SO much better with the fine attributes he has. That's what is so frustrating about him.

I know Navas's left foot is none exsistant but i'm suprised Pellegrini never tries him down the left. He may have some success cutting in on his right & shooting at times.

You missed this bit

well, almost everything. He has the footballing brain of a two year old, i.e. not a fucking clue. When it comes to decision-making, he is absolutely fucking inept.

I find it rather difficult to have an honest view about Navas, he is so damn frustrating at times.
I won't deny his work rate, always covering for his fullbacks and providing great runs forward in spaces.
But his weaknesses are there for everybody to see : it takes him ten attempts in a crossing spot to create a decent chance.
Too often does he storm the ball into his defender's legs, does he make a cross with absolutely zilch partner in the box,
does he take extra touches when he should have played quicker thus letting his defender to close him down, and let's not talk about his shooting technique .
Give a Marcello as much space as Navas is given, we would criquet score anyone out there...

Jesus has the 100% trust of the manager.
He also created the winning goal for a World Cup Final which few can claim.

Gives his all. Frustrating at times but lack of movement has also made him look poor.
He'll do for me and also Sagna & Zaba who play behind him.

Another with one year left on contract. Be interesting to see what happens with that. Fernandinho surprisingly only has one year too along with Toure, Zabaleta, Sagna and Clichy. I suppose it's up to Pep what he wants to do with them. We have been quiet on the contract front this year so far

So your saying you would be happy for him to be putting in decent crosses even though no one is there to receive them? doesn't quite sound right.
Yeah, crosses like the one Sagna did against Watford. I genuinely think Aguero doesn't bother getting into the box when Navas has it out on the wing because he knows what isn't going to happen. Instead he comes short and offers himself for the easy pass.... which also doesn't arrive.
