He cost us a point today, chased after the ball instead of holding his position when kolarov and Mangala had already gone to it.

But that's the way it goes. Can't expect him to be perfect when brought on for his debut in a game of this level halfway through.

He is a quality player, one mistake doesn't change that.

He chased his man, not the ball. Juve got a massive slice of luck with the ball hitting Kolarov's arm and rolling perfectly for Morata, exquisite finish too.

He's quite small for a CB isn't he? I know he's 6ft but you look at mangala and kompany and they're built like rocks. ;-)
He looks very powerful as does Mangala. In his brief spell last night he didn't put a foot wrong.

I'm not too worried about lack of height. Mangala has a great leap on him, and I saw Otamendi compete really well in the air last night.

I think we are letting them off lightly by saying that. For both goals we failed to attack the ball and remove the threat. Which is a shame because otherwise the defence played well. It just shows that at this level the best strikers need very little by way of opportunity but when they get one, they hurt you.

Perhaps Kolarov should've headed it but to blame Otamendi is nonsense, completely wrong footed by a breaking ball, there's no accounting for that.

That's how I see it too.

Don't think you can attribute the blame to him, the goal came from lack of pressure on the ball originally, coupled with it ricocheting off Kolarov's back.

You can't really blame him for not being match sharp, but he was slow over the first few yards, which enabled his oppo to get the shot off. When he's fully fit, I would expect him get in blocks, in those situations. But if he doesn't at least get very close, then he's not upto it. We would normally stop that shot.
