Yes full backs go forward. It's ok to go forward and provide an option. However, the full back must choose when to overlap and when to hold a run. Koralov overlaps when he shouldn't, there was times today he choose to overlap when he should of left the space for sterling to run into. Not only did he take the space Sterling would of liked to use, he left City open to a counter attack.
That reads really well, but completely ignores the fact that not only is that not how we play (and have been playing for about three years now!) but suggests that Sterling WANTS to go outside....Newsflash: He doesn't....nor was he brought in to do that!

As for "space," there was another team on the field today that was trying to deny us any space whatsoever, so the notion that if Kolarov had stayed home that Sterling would have had more room to play is nonsensical, IMHO.

You must be having a laugh. Do you think Kolarov just sprints down the line for fun, or do you think that is the game plan?
Have you ever played the game? You are talking about Chelsea and Hazard as if we are set up to play that way. We are not!
Maybe you could listen to some of the ex-players (pundits) who talk about Kolarov being the best left sided crosser of a ball in the league.

Clearly, I'm not going to change your mind about anything, let alone what the issue is down the left.

BTW, your "knowledge" of how Sagna-Zaba-Navas play doesn't aid your point at all.

I am aware it's PART of the game plan...But he runs past every time when he shouldn't....If it is indeed what he has been told to do then it's very naive to think it'll keep working like it did in the first 5 games.

And being arguably the best crosser is beside the point.

The point is, because he overlaps Sterling every time the balls with him then it limits Sterling's game to either passing it to Kolarov or cutting inside.

Now if you're saying that Sterling won't go out wide then what on earth is he doing playing wide left?

You've obviously got our entire left sided game plan down...And if you are correct and someone like you can see it, we're fucked

I'm not sure Sterling's best position is out wide. I think he may be useful down the centre playing, being on the shoulder of the last defender when he can and creating more space for the rest. He seemed to be in much more of a free role at the start of the season and I was very impressed with him. Since KDB was introduced his movement has been much more limited.

I think Sterling has been good so far for us. Still a young player who has more senior players around him that constantly go missing when things get tough. Believe me Raheem Sterling is the least of our worries.

he was our best attacker buy a mile today ,not saying much for the others

If giving the ball away makes you our best attacker then yes he was. If over hitting 5 yard passes makes you our best attacker then he was that too. And if fannying about before tripping over the ball makes you our best attacker he wins that as well today.

Very poor and needs to get good quick.

I remember seeing him when he 1st broke into Liverpool's team, a couple of seasons before his breakthrough season when they won the league, my son reminded me that at the time I said he'd be playing for Portsmouth in 5 years time...
Let's face it, he had a great season two seasons ago in their great championship winning season, did nothing in the season before that, did piss all last season and has done zip all this season for us....yet somehow has been elevated to near Ronaldo/Messi status/potential.
Sadly, he's over rated...

It's all about opinions I guess, but I'm genuinely astonished by that one. I've just got in from the game (despite the name I live in London), and I thought Sterling was absolute dogshit. The number of promising situations that went up in smoke, because he either over hit passes (particularly to the overlapping Kolarov), or played them under his team mates' feet, or set up opposition counter attacks with misplaced passes, or dribbled straight into the full back, was nobody's business. I'm fully aware of what he brings us in terms of balance and general threat, but as regards end product he's not significantly better than Navas, who gets slaughtered on here on a weekly basis
