Injuries , unable to adjust to the way the manager wants us to play , events off the park etc all add up to a dramatic loss of form and confidence and unfortunately for Vinny the game is about speed and endurance now so its pretty evident the game at the top level has passed him by.What on earth has happened to him!? Kompany on form will be great in any system. And an off form Kompany is simply poor regardless of system. That's my point. He wasn't great coz we played a certain way, he was great because he was an amazing defender. Equally, he is not poor because of our new system. He is poor because he is.the only city defender to play well in the last two years is demi and that only because we accept his failings kompany in a more balanced team would go staight back to his best
He was a decent DM when he was phenomenally athletic. The idea that he'd be great now that his confidence is shot, is at best hopeful.Spend the Pogba money on a new left side of defence and move Vinnie back into DM. He has the mobility and skill on the ball that Fernando lacks and he'll be able to close players down without leaving gaps. Given a few games he'd be the best DM in the PL with Matic.
