With Yaya playing in the right position we have 12 , he is arguably the best player in our history and a rival even to someone like Bell. He will never be the hero or Man or loved half as much but as a player I have not seen anyone in my lifetime in this country who could so grab a game by the scruff of the neck.

Even in the games where according to blues he wasn't even playing you will nearly always find he touched the ball more and completed more passes than anyone in the entire league that day. - precious fans who let agents doing their job upset them and in the emotion lose all sight of his ability!

I'm with you.

Have you posted anything this season which isn't you moaning about 442 ?

Think you need a road to Damascus moment with regards our manager.

Anyway, MEN clearing up who spoke to Yaya.

For me this is as big as a new signing. Absolutely buzzing that the big man is staying, and that the the club did the right thing but telling him how important he is and that they had no intention of selling him.

More evidence, one hopes, that the people running our club are not mugs and will not be pushed about by anyone.

There are going to be rather large helpings of humble pie being eaten on here next season if Yaya stays and we adapt to a 433 formation. My advice to the Yaya knockers is to quietly leave this thread and hope that no-one revives it when he proves you all wrong.
All the critisisms of Yaya directly relate to the fact that he and others are being asked to play in positions that don't suit their strengths to accomodate our 442 formation.

We can see that, other managers can see that, the pundits, newspaper reporters, hell everyone can see it apart from the most important person in terms of player selection & team tactics.

We should play the hand we're dealt, play to our strengths & stop trying to fit Yaya into a Makelele sized hole because he doesn't fit.

If we were playing for the league tomorrow, he'd still be my first choice. Opposing teams are scared of him, he's a magnificent footballer with a brilliant range of passing who helps us dominate possession - vital to the way we play. I've not even mentioned his goals.

It's up to the manager to find a way we are not exposed tactically when we don't have the ball, NOT Toure. We all know his game, the manager knows his game, it ain't gonna change. What he brings far outweighs what he doesn't.

Yep.

Spot on. I think the decision to keep Toure shows a different kind of management to the one we've seen in the past where maybe players have been let go a little too easily. I think with Toure it was always going to be about showing him enough TLC to have him commit mentally for another two years. Looks like we've done it.

If you believe this cockroach that is. If he said grass was green I'd check to make sure.

So why would he lie?

I guess when looking at a situation like this you have to ask how much would it be to replace him? At 24 million he has proved value but, and a big but for me is will he be happy once he is not the first name on the team sheet? This could lead to all sorts of problems and make the "cake" fiasco seem trivial.
