It really is frustrating whenever I hear so called expert analasyts constantly having a go at him for his defensive duties. He has never shown any real quality in this department in his time here at City. He really is a gem of a player who has a sublime touch with both feet and can constantly keep the ball moving effortlessly. He always makes himself available for the pass and is at his most dangerous when allowed to go forward. Because we play him in A midfield two alongside Fernandinho everybody immediately assumes he has got to become some defensive 'stop the opposition on every occasion ball winning dynamo' but it's not his game and especially not his game the older he gets. I think the sheer size and prescence of him on a football pitch also makes people think he must be a giant of a defensive midfielder. He's a powerhouse going forward who can find a pass anywhere on the pitch and as we know will weigh in heavily with goals from the midfield. I do wonder if the likes of David Silva and the Glenn Hoddle's of the footballing world were all 6ft plus powerhouses would they also be expected to just become a stopper.

Putting aside Yaya's close season problems he must still be mourning in some capacity and we and the club need to support him fully. I don't think he's been anywhere near as bad as the media or supporters are making out and it appears unless he's banging in goals, making 50 yard surging runs or stopping the opposition in their tracks single handedly then he isn't doing his job but I have no doubt he will come again for us and we are a far far better team with him in.

You're thinking about 2013-14 Yaya.

2014-15 Yaya is a ****.

Re: Yaya?

He cannot play in a two man midfield against a high quality three man midfield. He sometimes struggles against the likes of Swansea and Southampton in the Prem doing this, never mind against high quality midfields like Bayern's or Roma's. He's just too slow off the mark to defend against the extra man (passed or run around at ease with loads of space and an extra man around him).

Pellegrini's fault here though. Play three in midfield against high quality teams who play three in midfield and he and we would be much better off.

2014-15 Yaya is a c**t.

Personally I think the majority of the team has yet to reach anywhere near their standards of last season and not just Yaya. I've been a little confused and disappointed with some of Pellegrinis tactics and team selections so far and I wonder whether its all a bit of a hangover from the world cup and those players that were involved have just played too much football too soon and are not yet firing. Looking at Manuel last night I saw him far more animated showing more reaction, frustration and disappointment on his face in one single game than I've seen in the past 12 months (Barcelona apart) and I think he has been told we must acheive in this seasons Champions League no matter what the cost. If we go out of the group stages we may just see the real City turn up for the rest of the campaign and concentrate on the Premier rather than the medias frenzy for UEFA's love child Champions League. Watching the start of the PSG v Barcelona game last night and the cameras pan to Beyonce, Jay Z and Becks in the crowd I mean WTF is it all coming to. Get back to real football and fuck all this obssession with the glitz and glamour of a shite corrupt competition.

Re: Yaya?

Been thinking about the free kick just outside the box that he failed to take despite the fact it was similar to the position from where he was knocking them in for fun last season. No good reason for him not to take it from what I could see. Did he not want to score?

My missus said he was ambling about like an 80 year old rather than a 60 year old which is the norm. It appears to me he doesn't want to play for the fans anymore.

Re: Yaya?

Didn't play that bad last night I thought,, just seems we need a new scapegoat. Fernandinhio was worse than him but he goes unnoticed. The 2 in midfield whoever it may be does not work. Get Fernando in with them to help and watch Yaya flourish in the CL.

Yaya is shite - the weakest link in an alreadyunderperforming team. He is a lazy waste of space who does no more than create extra work for Fernandinho or whoever else plays alongside him.

To be fair this season so far you could put four in the middle and he still wouldn't perform.

His best game this season was Arsenal.

What the fuck were you watching? Fern was running himself into the ground,he was as good as he could have been given his lack of support.

Toure is yesterday's man... Gone... Finished. 50% of the people in the crowd last night would have given more and played better than Toure. I have no time whatsoever for the c**t and wouldn't give a shit if he was bombed out for nothing tomorrow. He looks totally disinterested and serves no purpose other than to put Fernandinho under unnecessary pressure.

Is everything ok mate?
