The one player I dread not being in the team more than anyone is Joe. He's not got the monetary value of a lot of the players we have but the point of importance was raised. Whether it's caballero, pantillimon or whoever else has been his understudy, I never feel the same confidence.

Some people need to give yaya a little bit more respect, he will go down as one of the club's legends alongside bell Lee and summerbee he has done that much for our club, not been at his best this season, but is always capable of that piece of magic as we saw last night.

I know you well enough you often have stats back your view. Others however hide behind stats if they speak in their favor. And we both know stats can give a wrong view on things. So do human eyes, cameras and photographs to name a few items for judging situations. Media are masters in this and can easily let people believe what they want them to by using what suits them.

Don't want to go round in circles on this. I would say though that whilst stats can be misinterpreted, they are in of themsleves totally objective and factual; albeit they are not always 100% accurate but their error rate can be ignored.

He's a pundit on sky and has the platform to influence the thinking of football fans - that's his job. The fact I read city fans repeating his nonsense on here is testament to it. I'm sure there are some City fans who aren't influenced by Carragher - fair enough - but they're still talking nonsense if they call Yaya lazy.

But if we're honest it's plain to see that the narrative of "Yaya is lazy" set by pundits like Carragher has had an effect on the views of some fans on here and you see it on and almost daily basis. And judging by the direction this thread is taking I don't think I'm alone in starting to get a bit pissed off with this myth.

Ok mate. There's no rule that says we have to agree with each other.

Nor should you. The number 2 in a goalkeeping position is normally weaker than the alternative in any other

No it isn't. it's quite clear that pundits like Carragher certainly do have an influence on the thinking of the wider football fans as well as City fans on here. Certainly when I hear City "fans" calling him a lazy **** etc etc.

We're talking about a guy who was born in the Ivory Coast in poverty and rose to be one of the best footballers in the world, winning every club honour on earth for Barcelona and the premier league twice, FA cup and league cup for City scoring some of the most important goals in our history. Do you really think it's possible for someone who is lazy to achieve all that? When you stop and think it's absolutely ludicrous.

If you want to call me condescending for calling people out on branding him a "lazy ****" etc then so be it, I can live with it.

+1

This.....Yaya has the ability only a few have and that is to change a game, win it for us.,He has scored some very important goals for us as did Dzeko. Both have been battered on here with a lack of recognition to what they have given us...

Depends on what you call a big game. I thought we controlled the game at Leicester, despite not winning it. We have generally played better with him than without him. Our performance at Stoke should serve as an example of that as would last January when he was at AFCON.

How can you say we controlled that game?

Possession isn't control. Leicester allowed us to keep possession on the halfway line because we weren't a threat, Yaya couldn't get any of our attacking quartet on the ball in good positions because he no longer drives forward and commits midfielders. In years gone by he would have driven forward into the space Leicester allowed us, which in turn forces a defender or midfielder to come out of position, giving the attacking players space to move into.
