Player topic : Yaya Toure (2015/16)

That is the big issue. I stated it weeks ago. Yaya is the only one who links the defence to midfield to attack. When he is pushed forward we end up playing too direct as highlighted by the spurs/united game.

But some how Fernandinho and other players get a free pass, who contribute nothing offensively besides collecting the ball playing it square and exacerbating the slow, pedestrian football we have seen for months away from home

Yup.

Central midfield has been the main problem for a few years now, and has so far been unaddressed despite good money being spent on average players. Rodwell, Garcia, Fernandinho, Fernando, Delph (harsh on him admittedly).

Clear we want Pogba but, he isn't the only player on the planet. Need to address that issue in the summer, and probably the defence the way it's going.

Some fucking nutjobs on again tonight.

Fucking stunned he hasn't been blamed for the home defeat v Stockport.....

Oh come off it are you really happy with his performance tonight? It's all well and good sticking up for players when they deserve it but Yaya tonight was as bad as I have ever seen him and deserves everything coming his way.

Delph and Fernandinho's job is to win the ball back and give it to the creative players and allow the fullbacks to get forward and cover if we lose the ball. As good as yaya has been ,his
time has come like all players to be replaced by someone younger.

You're ever more deluded than he is.

Name one single positive thing that Yaya contributed in that game? Just one.....

Yes, everybody is deluded, but you're right.

This isn't a point based on one game, it's based on how we play. Our midfielders don't pass the ball forwards and without Yaya there is no link between defence and attack.

Yaya was crap tonight, I won't dispute that. He's over the hill, depsite flashes of brilliance, I won't dispute that either, but until someone else takes responsibility and distributes the ball forwards from midfield, he's still the best and only one we have for that role. Nobody else does it, it's that simple.

Not tonight, but it is every fucking game we lose, and even some we win. We have a large section of posters on here who slate him, but other players get away scot free. Someone alluded to it in a post before the match.

Am I the only one who thought he looked knackered from kick off?

Can't do the job if he's not fit.

He hates Yaya, anything that deviates from that narrative is shocking to him. Obo hasn't even said Yaya played well, just that others need to show what Yaya offers so we can move him. But nooooooooo, if you don't think Yaya is worse than your Grandma you are clueless

How can you even defend the indefensible? Fernandinho and Delph are both more than comfortable in possession and several times today had a static Yaya in front of them, not even moving to create space for himself or others. He didn't contribute to tonight's game in any way, shape or form.

I'll ask again, name one single thing he contributed in tonight's game?

At least when he was this bad against Arsenal and Swansea, we got 10 minutes of brilliance.

He just cant cut it and play 2 games a week its telling the more we see him. We can all agree he is lazy getting back. I just see once Pep comes in Yaya is on the list of players going. He was a great player for us and is a big part of our history but were evolving all the time and we cant be covering for players like Yaya.

But maybe that's cos they are just doing the roles they are told to perform? When we play a midfield 2 it's Dinho's job to mop up for Yaya and win the ball back and it's Yaya's job to get the ball forward and especially when we play a midfield 3 its the 2's job to win the ball and we expect Yaya to contribute more in attack. I'd fully back Dinho to be able to do Yaya's job if he was given the chance to as I have seen before how amazing he can be when he goes forward but it seems like he is told to stay back cos of Yaya's inability to close players down or chase after them.
