The club clearly have a fair number of tickets to shift so SHB might well have a point about the pricing. Perhaps it would have been better to wait to see who we were playing and what the consequences of the game would be before setting a price.
But having said that, they made a pricing decision and have been left with excess stock. It therefore makes sense to try to get a marginal return in order to meet what will be a largely fixed cost of staging the game. Or maybe they're Plzen tickets not being used.
If they'd put them on open sale at £15 then I'd expect a refund of the difference but they haven't. They've put a limited number of tickets out to a limited & restricted subset for one game only. So that's great if you're part of that subset and you fancy attending. It maybe that this price is subsidised so as a paying member of that group you're getting something for your subs.
But from a regular fan's point of view you get a season ticket to guarantee your seat and because it's cheaper than buying on a match-by-match basis. So you've saved far more than the £13 "extra" you've paid.
Also, going on the CL scheme means you're guaranteed to get to games against the likes of Barcelona or Real Madrid. There'd be no £15 tickets for those I bet.
DD's analogy is not a bad one. As an alternative imagine being a member of a club or gym then finding subs reduced to half price for new members a couple of months later. That's tough.
