Points for the final

it would be straight forward lol

@JMW, it wouldn't take that long as you split the day into two halves for sales, like we did for Ajax away, plus there wouldn't be that many people in categories 2-4 and 6-8

that inconveniences people who can't buy a ticket when their category opens in the morning. Should always be 1 category per day, Ajax away was a farce and enabled people like me with half the points to nab a ticket.
half the points?
they went on sale at 9am on 8500 and above
sold out about 4ish at 8000 points

technical issues allowed us folk in, that's the problem when you rush things ;).

I'll use my own example because I think I typify the demographic of a lot of fans. I committed to a SC in 2009 for me and my son (yes, yes I know ...after the takeover).
Apart from the fact that everything in the garden looked rosier, it was mainly a matter that I could manipulate my working life a bit more to make the majority of games and my lad was at an age where he would watch the game and not mither for chips and pop all afternoon.
His first game was THAT Millwall game at MR when he 4. He's been a blue from day one and never once questioned it when surrounded by little rags at school and their taunts.
Should he forever be at the back of the queue?
In 2011 we both scraped through for tickets for the semi with about 2400 points but didn't get anywhere near a final ticket, something I bemoaned a bit at the time.
Ever since we've committed to the cup schemes. Even though this year he now works on Sundays, and couldn't make some games. Our seats were occupied when we couldn't make by selling to friends and family.

We didn't go to the front of the queue for the semi, it was April 2nd before we were eligible, on 3440 points and only jumped ahead of non CS on 4000. I thought we'd cut it fine but it was a few more days before they announced it was sold out. It made no difference for the Stoke game because that sold out before we were eligible.
I don't expect to go to the front of the queue for the final just for being on the cup scheme but if I don't get a final ticket that will render it pretty useless and ill be leaving it next year.
I think there are merits to the CS for the club and fans alike, this year there circa 40k for the Watford game compared to the appalling attendance for the Reading QF in 2011. I'm committing to something tangible and stating that my seat will be taken in that match whoever the opposition.
Much fairer than the Platinum scheme which is nothing more than cash for loyalty points and totally unethical in my opinion.

He won't be. 100 points for joining the scheme (and another 200 for league and champions league schemes). Points for the individual cup games his ticket has been used for. Season ticket holder for four years. He's hardly at the back of the queue as it is and if tickets were allocated on loyalty points alone I reckon he'd be a very good chance to get one. And that's without considering an option of bumping scheme members up a couple of categories as a reward.

If joining the cup scheme doesn't give you first dibs on a final ticket them there is no point joining the scheme.

2011 was our first final for years so the club rightly gave preference to people with a large number of loyalty points. This year however they should prioritise the scheme.

It's the only fair way

I agree in principal but the reason for season tickets and also the points system is to reward loyalty and therefore priority for tickets.

A ST holder with 10000 points should surely have shown more loyalty to the club overall than a cup scheme member with 1000 points.

In the old days tokens were collected each game you attended not just cup games and those with most tokens were given priority for future games.

The cup scheme should include being able to select your own seat if being relocated and also priority given to games attended in the season.

Using only loyalty points creates an elite group of people who solely by being older than other fans will always get the tickets for the big games depriving just as loyal blues who are unfortunate by being 20 years younger so have less points.

These fans already get priority for every away league game so I see no problem with introducing a cup scheme to give other fans a chance to go to the big games. It's all about making city more accessible and less of a closed shop.

There's a belief on this forum that only the 30,000 that went to York away (which I went to as I was at uni there) are proper blues and anyone younger is an upstart who needs to always be at the back of the queue.

Joining the cup scheme cost £20 per game for a maximum of 4 games. If you didn't want o join that scheme then unfortunately you are going to miss out!

This is why I agree in principal with the cup scheme but other factors need to be taken into account.

Games per current season.
Choosing own seat when being relocated
Total points gained current season.

Correct me if I'm wrong mate but if iirc correctly those figures you quote are for platinum members and we're gold so only get the non preferential rate. ;0)

No, they're for gold. Platinum is double points.

I ask this question whenever I read a ticket thread -
What is the spread of points etc? How many fans in each category? I.e. how many on 10k+, how many 9k - 10k?
I fear City don't publish details as we'd all be up in arms at how many go before they even get to the fans.
Hope I'm wrong, but the lack of response from the club is deafening!

Interesting debate, but I think the Cup Scheme is a great idea. Look at the results - sell-outs and good atmospheres at the home games against lower league opposition, compared to two years ago when the ground was less than two-thirds full for the Villa game.

I am in a similar position to Judge Rough in that I missed the final in 2011, having made it to the semi. I don't think there's anything wrong with trying to incentivise people like us into making sure we get to the final next time around, by joining the scheme. Okay, so we might leapfrog over others who might have more points than us, but not on the CS. But no system is ever going to please everyone. I attended hundreds of games at Maine Road but got no points for them. I was extremely "loyal", but for family, location and work reasons didn't attend a game at the Etihad until 2009. Should I have got a ticket for the 2011 final, rather than a younger guy with no Maine Road games under his belt, but far more points than me? I don't think so.

And hold in mind that it is difficult for some people to build up their points by "normal" means. Twice this season I had to buy tickets for away games from Bluemooners who had the points. Net gain for them, 80 points, net loss for me 80 points. Not complaining, I was delighted to have the opportunity to go to the games, but just making the point that the will be flaws in all "loyalty" systems. And I think our club strikes the right balance with the present Cup Schemes.

Of course non of this would matter if the FA didn't give such an obscene amount to corporates.
My dad got us both a ticket no problem at all in 1981 even though we were 1st year ST holders.
I blame the FA for everything the cup used to be and no longer is.
