Points for the final

As I've said quite a few times now, I am having a discussion about the current cup ticketing system and whether it is a good or bad one. Discussion on club policy is, I would have thought the sort of things we do on a football discussion forum.

I'm not expecting this discussion to have any impact on the finals allocation process.

I expect to get a ticket myself as I have plenty of loyalty points. If I don't get a ticket, just the way things go and I will enjoy the match on the TV.

I fully understand the concept of the cup scheme and have been a member in the past. I will undoubtedly be a member in the future, but it wasn't possible this season. I understand why the club give an advantage to scheme members, and I support scheme members getting an advantage.

I just think that the current advantage is too big. And I don't support a system where a first year season ticket holder on the scheme can get a ticket ahead of a long serving blue who isn't (I'm not talking about myself). I fear that the direction we are heading with this scheme is that the loyalty of long term blues is pretty much forgotten as soon as they don't sign up for the next seasons scheme. I have proposed alternative solutions that I think are fairer for all.

That clear enough for you, sorry I didn't write any words in capitals for you.

Thanks, moomba!

The Original Post:

Can anyone hazard a guess of how many you'll need to get a final ticket? personally got just above 3000 with a season ticket, not on cup scheme. Thanks in advance

Of the 20+ pages, I started reading it, saw how it was devolving away from the original question into a subject for another thread, and thus asked my question.

My apologies for not reading every post, but I'm about 6 hours behind Manchester time, so sometimes the new threads are deep into double digit pages before I ever get to them. Sometimes, I try to plough through them but other times I read the first few pages and then see where it was going from the last few pages/posts.

I did not meant to offend anyone, especially considering you personally appear to have a reasonable concern or point of debate, but that is not where this thread started...or where it was heading, with people complaining about the Cup Scheme.

(Hope that was not too many capitals?!)

So you're basically advocating a scheme that personally benefits you.......

The cup scheme is a perfectly fair and reasonable way of allocating cup tickets. If the club had disguised the importance of the scheme then it would be fair to be critical but the scheme was clearly explained from day one. It's certainly a lot fairer than united where they force season ticket holders to join the scheme.

Not in the slightest.

I don't know if you're not reading what I've posted. I am not advocating that the club change it's ticketing policy for the final, the fact that the scheme was clearly explained from day 1 has no bearing on whether I think it is a fair scheme or not. The FA have made it fairly clear that corporates get a large percentage of the tickets for the final, I don't think that's a good policy either.

And I do think that if it carries on in this direction, being a member of a scheme will be pretty much essential if you want a ticket to the big cup games. So pretty much forced on you, just like the rags.

I missed out on the final in 2011 and therefore have joined the cup schemes ever since. everyone had the hence to join. It should also be noted that the cup scheme and proper pricing is the reason we had full stadiums for the home games which undoubtedly will have helped the team. Vincent Kompany said so himself.

Being a fan shouldn't just be about "The big cup games". If you're not happy to commit to games like Watford at home then I don't see why you should have an automatic right to go to a FA cup final just because you've had a season ticket longer than the rest of us!

That's fine.

I personally think loyalty is about more than committing to a cup game against Watford. The best judge of loyalty we have is the loyalty points system which not only comprises season tickets in past years when we werent such an attractive proposition, but cup and away games too. People who go to the "lesser"cup games like Watford will end up with more points than those that don't.

But that's where ideology comes into it I guess.

The only slight downside to the system I can see is those not on the cup scheme but go to every cup game.

My lads go to every game but I have to pay cash for their cup tickets so the wife can't see the money going directly out of the bank to MCFC. Sad but true.
