Sounds like an absolute nightmare.

And I don’t mind answering police questions at all-although in October I’ve been retired 4 years so I’m aware my relevance is time limited, simply because things change.

Is this bloke going to court in relation to the latest dog attack?

If not I’d be reporting it to the police. There are things that can be done-ultimately a court can order a dog to be destroyed and the owner to be banned from owning dogs.

he's going to court because of it,
but as we all know the courts are backlogged.

what i cannot comprehend is why he is still allowed to walk the dog.
or even why the dog hasn't already been put down...
it nearly killed a child.

this has got disaster written all over it.

in a way, i feel sorry for the dog.
they are pack animals and need to know who the leader is.
this prick has no idea how to handle an animal.
the poor thing is confused.

but now it has a taste of blood.
and this prick takes it for a walk as if nothing happened.
the doglead is just a simple hand-held one,
it could easily get away again.

you'd have at least thought he could be ordered to keep it indoors.
shouldn't the police have had a word with him?
at least suggested he muzzle the thing?
i dunno, it just seems completely wrong.

as an aside,
i believe the father of the child punched the prick.
now he's in trouble.

You’re correct, it’s likely to be some time before this is resolved.

I’m rusty but I’m sure police can seize dogs that have/maybe dangerously out of control pending a court case?

Is there an officer in the case (OIC) for it? I’d advise the victim and/or you contacting them to explain your concerns.

You and your neighbours should keep a log of incidents and report everything!

I’d be incredibly concerned-but never stop reporting things, as frustrating as it may seem, or emailing your local inspector and gather as many names in your neighbourhood as possible. There clearly is an ongoing risk-and as busy as police are, nagging works!

I would ask the RSPCA if there's anything they can do to help.

The RSPCA don't have the powers to seize animals.

In fact they have no statutory powers. They can't access a property or take animals away unless the courts grant a warrant.

If the bloke hasn't already volunteered the animal to the police when it's taken a chunk out of a child I'm not sure sending the RSPCA will be much point.
