Political relations between UK-EU

Really well explained

You win the post of the day award

I like to think that there is at least one balanced and well thought through post
each day

I am sadly very often disappointed.....
You win the patronising post of the day award. Like CITY winning the league cup there is a certain inevitability

Just needs patience.

Someone starting a healthy diet plan can come out in spots, get headaches, feel a bit dizzy until their body adjusts. My Grandad smoked for 62 years, quit, came out in rashes and his lungs were coughing up a load of shit for a while and got a few chest infections, he wondered if he’s done the right thing. Then that all stopped and now says he feels ten years younger.

Becsuse of how shit the Tories are, we’re going to go through a fair bit of shit until adjustments are made, everything is ironed out, and we see the bigger picture. If only there’d been credible parties or credible MPs on the left or centre or even the right to vote for to lead us through all this instead of this bunch of Charlatans.

Some businesses might well go through some bad times, some might go under, but that exact thing was happening here and in other parts of the EU while we were (and they still are) in the EU. Businesses in Italy go under all the time, they’ve had five Recessions in two decades. Nothing the EU does seems to do much for Italy’s economy; and they aren’t the only ones, and aren’t in the worst state.

I’d be thinking of giving it a bit longer than 18 days after the agreement to see who’s had any positive experiences.
We had positive experiences reported by Brexiteers on New Year's Day at around 8am when a queue hadn't formed in Kent yet. Then we had daily updates until one did. It's all gone quiet now.

Does anyone know if there’s been a deal on property sales and tax? Ordinarily, as I understand it, if you sell a property in the EU you don’t have to pay capital gains tax on your sale if you buy another property in the EU within 2 years. If there’s no deal in place that’s going to hurt a lot of people that bought property in places like Spain and have decided they want to return to the UK. It would make it absolutely impossible for me to sell up and return to the UK that is for sure.

Has Brexit had an impact on property prices in areas of Spain popular with British expats?

“We’ll pay you to drive an empty lorry back, we‘re desperate, guv...”

‘The company, which did not want to be named, said it had about 50 trucks delivering cargo every week from the EU to the UK, but they were returning empty as importers in key industries such as the motor sector were willing to cough up to ensure smooth passage.

“Companies are willing to pay the price for the trucks to go back empty because it’s cheaper than being stuck in a lorry park for four or five days,” said the source.

“We charge €400 to €600 a day, so it’s cheaper for companies to pay for the trailer to go back empty and then get another delivery back into the truck. It’s stupid at the end of the day but that is Brexit’ @guardian
