Political relations between UK-EU

Correct. It should've been nipped in the bud after the initial nonsense about people not being able to talk about British voters.

Loons, however might have been the wrong word. Cunts would've done.
Well done you on letting the topic move on.

I've always found your external opinion useful and generally well-written, as a citizen of a country who are very definitely interested in how it plays out. The news do report occasionally on external opinion, but only when something makes it top of the news pile again.
One person (and I forget his previous name) has a problem with your opinions; not sure many others have.

Same for you @Shadz69

The German Govt signalled in 2016 that negotiations with the US had failed and that everyone was in denial mode and this was prior to Trump. Hilary Clinton also stated she would halt negotiations in the run up to the 2016 election.

Trying to eliminate non-tariff barriers between the two blocs that set their own standards was always an ambitious task and was always going to flounder on the vested interests of the two blocs. This trampling on vested interests was partly why everything was kept so secret, but in a bloc of nearly 30 countries, each with their own agenda, good luck with that.

The UK will have a ‘trade deal’ with the US long before the EU, and by long before I mean there never will be a formal overall deal between the EU and US. The UK‘s vested interests, food standards etc, will be the first thing in the crapper in the event of a deal.

Your vote just from a tactical viewpoint makes zero sense which is why I don’t buy it.

The German government didn’t signal that at all. About 2 months after the Brexit vote one of the German economic? minister came out and said it had failed. Merkel was always in favour of TTIPs

Clinton was Obama’s prodigy. She wasn’t even the democrat nomination at the time of the Brexit vote was she? Regardless she was full square behind Obama who obviously wanted TTIPs. I recall them both saying the UK would be at the back of a queue for a trade deal. I imagine a lot of those who wanted to remain jumped on those words at the time so you’ll probably recall it well.

So you’re saying that my reasons for voting leave (TTIPs) were wasted because the EU-US will never agree a trade deal which sort of begs the question why did they even bother trying then? Should have just come on here and been put straight.

I do find it strange how me, a Tory voter, am having to defend our public sector against corporatism from those whom reside on the left of our political spectrum. I’m pretty sure you’ll find me standing shoulder to shoulder with the unions on this one. Worlds gone mad.

I’m not bothered about discussing the ins and outs of the current government and policy, it was mostly the point on people that aren’t British and don’t live here chiming in with criticisms of the voting population.

He’s clarified his position and it’s gone on as a discussion far longer than it needed to.
Open forum last time I looked and the Irish have a significant vested interest. Any comments on how the hell the present atrocious incumbents were voted in is perfectly natural.
Obviously he touched a sore spot.

I said so myself that it’s an open forum. I also said in same regard I can tell him that it’s none of his business, which is my opinion.

I consider your government totally untrustworthy.

So do a lot of people and quite rightly so.

I know what a seedy political class exists here

Your Micheál Martin is a joke when it comes to being seedy, the fucker has a second job …. working in a tea shop. He should get a proper second job “consulting”. Embarrassing.

Let it go, you contrarian loon.

He's a miles more informed and sensible poster than you.

But as a Brexit and Tory voter, your far more likely to enable TTIP. The now defunct Dept of Business, Innovation and Skills were a client of mine (6/7ish) years ago when there were lots of misgivings about what TTIP would mean. The (Tory) government were absolutely up for TTIP, but were too afraid of perceptions over the NHS to give it full backing, even if they did try and promote it. I appreciate not everyone would've seen this in their jobs like I did, but it's absurd to think a Tory govt wouldn't be in favour of such a policy.
