Political relations between UK-EU

Fortunately trade barriers can be lifted now, business is great at working around things when there's money to be made, if barriers have been put in place then others will be glad of the business no doubt. Our youth unemployment is rapidly falling which has got to be good news vacancies continue to rise which usually brings wage increases.

Not sure who is lifting trade barriers....its had to work around sending fresh salads or fish all over the globe and keeping them super fresh and at the expected premium quality whilst remaining competitive. In fact we can't. Youth unemployment may be falling but if you have seen the news recently vacancies remain at a record 1.2m so business is suffering and cannot function efficiently as a result - as for wage rises yaaaay great - inflation is above 5% and could hit 7% - nobody I know in low paid work is being offered a 7% plus wage rise but they and their employers are faced with rising prices and costs of energy across the board - any of that wrong?

Well apart from Australia lifting trade barriers and business having to pay higher wages to attract workers which can't be bad, if you remember in the mid 80s we had 25% inflation whilst chucking skilled workers down the pan every week.

Yeah great - we can export our lamb and beef to Australia.... oh wait....they don't need it.

Higher wages have to be part of a structure otherwise wages are inflationary - see the 70's when economic mismanagement led to uncontrolled wage rises and inflation ....thankfully we have a Govt in control of the economy and inflation is low...oh wait.....

Ah yes the 80's - 25% inflation and skilled workers in production jobs chucked down the pan - remind me who was in government during that period ? ( spoiler alert 1980 - 1990 Conservative Govt - Thatcher to 1989 then Major) - nice try

Apparently it doesn't matter what we export only that we trade so bringing in beef and lamb from Australia is good for the Country save's us the effort, i know full well who was in power being a skilled worker chucked out, thankfully I found other work as for wages they've been kept artificially low for quite some time. Inflation is still fairly low with most of the inflation pressures caused by things we have very little control over.

The point of Brexit was to increase trade barriers with Europe and depress EU trade. So, why would the Govt lift EU trade barriers when they campaigned to raise them and negotiated a deal that specifically raised them?

The country also elected this Govt to raise trade barriers with Europe. I mean they also elected them to stop UK kids going on cultural exchange visits to Europe, so think you are missing the point of Brexit.

How have wages in your sector been kept artificially low? EU migrants undercutting you? Do you work in the only sector with no vacancies and too many applicants? How is inflation low when its the highest in a decade? There is a whole generation who left school and started work who are unused to inflation and borrowing rates that we face.

Give it 12 months and you will be able to buy a farm and its stock for a fiver

25% inflation? In the 80s? Cobblers. Only time we had that was 1975 with oil prices high.

No our wages have gone up well above the current inflation rate, we need more people but it's working away a lot of the time and hard work so hard to find.Next time I see a poor farmer I'll make him the offer think I'll be out of luck though.I only wish somebody had been so concerned when our heavy engineering and mining industries were being undercut abet with some contrivance from Mrs Thatchers government.

Yeah would have been nice had people listened to the Unions in the 70;s but like Brexit they believed Tort lies
