Positive news about Corona Virus Updates

Looks like only 59 hospital deaths being reported in England although only 10 from yesterday. Majority, 27 from Saturday and six from May with one as far back as May 6. North West accounts for 25% of newly reported deaths.

The poster you responded to said there hadn't been a significant increase despite lockdown being loosened in the last few weeks. You then started talking about a second wave and third wave.

Sorry but that is not in the spirit of this thread.

I was still responding to his post but hey, you must be the how dare you have an opinion police then!!! Pardon me for breathing!!

Happy positive news only on this thread i think. Doom and gloom about 2/3 waves, mutations no vaccine, and apocalypse on the other Covid thread.

At least thats how I think it works and why this is the smallest thread on the subject sadly.

Excess mortality gap is reduced yet again on today’s released data:
Average mortality for week of 29 May each year: 8.1K deaths compared to 2020 figures of 9.8K.
Yes, it’s still above, and considering we have the worst data in Europe it’s small comfort overall, but still, the gap has really dropped. I’d hope the gap is down below 1K by next Tuesday.

Prof Emma Thomson tells Radio Scotland that research has shown the virus that causes Covid-19 is not mutating very rapidly.

She said this should make it more likely that a vaccine could be developed and for it to have a higher chance of working.

Quote Message: One of the reasons why we struggle for flu and why we have to vaccinate every year for flu is because it's so variable. This virus doesn't seem to be anything like as variable as that. I think there's a good chance we'll get a vaccine that might work." from Prof Emma Thomson Virologist

Only a few weeks until pubs should be back open!

That's when we should be concerned. Mainly older blokes, drunkenly talking too loud in close proximity to loads. Covid is gonna be rubbing its little viral hands in glee.
