Positives To Take From Today

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
The majority of our squad will be with us next season and can be nothing but stronger for that experience. Short of that happening away at Old Trafford or Anfield, it couldn't have been a harder experience, or more bitter pill to swallow.
I said in a quick post last night that our shortcomings - which are very few - came home to roost around the 90 minute mark. We very nearly got away with it. Unfortunately, as a result of not taking enough of our excellent chances over 2 legs, our fragile defence was exposed under extreme pressure, when it was looking more fragile due to injuries and the recent immense efforts thay had all been putting in, together with the added stress of a special European night for the home side. Throw-in a crap ref and we were never coming back from that 7/8 minutes of triple shocks (though we did have chances).
So, tweak the squad, with a few upgrades which we all know we need, and we will be stronger next season. 30 years and 2 days ago we were relegated to the 3rd division. Last night, we lost a Champs league semi final. We've had 10 years of greatness and, still, the best is yet to come.
Happy days.

There's plenty of positives, or at least reasons not to be negative.

There's the obvious one, which is that some of us won't have to spend over £1000 on going to the shithole that is Paris, and risk watching us lose to Liverpool. Plus our players now have to only focus on the league title, which we're just 4 wins maximum from retaining. That will be 4 PL titles in 5 seasons, which is the best united ever did.

And at the end of the day it's just a football game; 22 men kicking a ball around. Last night was disappointing but City (or any team) winning the CL doesn't cure disease, stop war or eliminate poverty.

I don't usually share much personal stuff on here but from a personal perspective, my daughter gave birth to a gorgeous little girl on Saturday and it was very touch-and-go for both mother and baby. The umbilical cord got trapped during the delivery, which led to a sudden loss of oxygen to the baby, meaning an emergency section had to be done within minutes.

Fortunately they saved the baby but in the process my daughter suffered a massive haemorrhage, losing 1.9 litres of blood. That's known as a Class 3 Haemorrhage, and is nearly 40% of your total blood. Fortunately they managed to stop it in time and she survived, but needed a couple of transfusions soon afterwards. The loss of just another pint would probably have been fatal, leaving two little girls without their mum and me without my daughter. Both are back home and seem fine now fortunately. So last night wasn't important for me in the overall scheme of things.

And between September 2017 and summer 2019, I suffered a series of issues that left me unable to work and, as I was freelance, earning no money. I was over £25k in debt at one point but started to get it under control and reduce it about 18 months ago. This morning I paid the last penny of that off and I can't tell you how good that feels.

So remember that, however disappointing last night was, there's worse things that happen in life and City winning or losing doesn't change those, or the blessings you may have.

Have a great day Blues.

And there's the fucking perspective many needed. Congratulations on the new grandchild and glad to hear all is well with mother and baby. And well done for clearing the debt, guessing your bet on Real to qualify helped out there!

The CL final loss last season was awful. The Euro final defeat was horrific (especially with my birthday being the next day). But I've had another child since (wife was in a similar situation to your daughter actually). And my Mum died in December. Life throws plenty of good things and a lot of shit at you. Football can help distract. I don't believe in God but I was calling out for my Mum to sort us out some luck from the higher powers but to no avail.

She was always telling me I needed to go to Istanbul though so keep the faith blues!

Agreed, but as a club we do need to win this.

Our owner/execs have invested incredibly well and this in many ways it is the icing on the cake, let's be honest we probably should already have at least one star on the shirt already, last year was there for the taking and last night was a devastating blow.

I hope I am very wrong but I think we will struggle to retain the title now and that would be a huge disappointment.

We can't keep looking back to the club we once were, those days are gone for now, the clubs mentality has changed so much into winners, sadly some of our fans have not.
Wasn't so long ago we had stars on our shirt because it looked "Continental". We will have them soon for the real reason but you're right we should have done it by now.

Sunday will go a long way to determining whether or not we win the league. Come through that with a win and we should do it

I didn’t sleep very well, so looking forward to a good nights kip tonight!
