Post counts

So ric wanted feedback, majority want them back, a few don't and now it's the same three or four people repeating their points.

If ric really wants feedback then we can do a poll, which Damocles doesn't want as he knows it will go the way he doesn't want.

So no point having feedback nor the thread as no one is changing anyone else's mind are they.

The thread's only been going for a few hours! People are still giving giving feedback, so there's no need to rush to a decision. I don't think it's going to cause any harm if we allow more people time to give their opinions. At the moment it seems like a few people are shouting the loudest to force a decision.

Fair enough. Democratic vote seems fair.

A poll is fair enough but I think it should be given a few days/weeks for people to get used to it first though.

yes, i agree. it all seems like much ado about nothing really, this.

if a poster has to first determine if another's post count qualifies them to be responded to in the first place, then they may be missing the point of a forum.

give it until the end of the transfer window and see how people get used to it, then do a poll.

Exactly. That's the behaviour that removing them is designed to stop.
Why don't you just make post counts part of the user preferences, show them if you want or not if you don't. I noticed they'd gone missing this morning and it's only since they've been removed that I've realised that I must look at user post counts or I wouldn't have noticed.

I understand the Mod's concern about new posters receiving abuse because of it, but IMO the abusers are the one's who should be dealt with especially the ones who's opinions are that every new poster is a **** until they prove otherwise. Attitudes like that are where the problems lie.
