Post Match Thread: City vs Boro

So we basically had our first team squad out there and we got outplayed, bossed and played off the park by a Championship side.

Disgraceful.

It's been coming though, we've been poor and thank god we played a shower of shite in mid-late December (We still blew leads at Burnley and drew with a shit Everton side)

Our problem is that we play too slow going forward, there seems to be no actual plan of how to attack other than do neat little, slow passes in and around the box or backwards. We rarely use the width and when we do the cross or cutback doesn't go in quick enough so it gets held up allowing defenders to set themselves so then we pass back and go all over again.

Then the defence is a new level of shit this season, I don't know what's up with Vinnie but he's more adventurous and reckless than ever before. This isn't helping Mangala out one bit either. Though I'll defend them a bit by saying the protection they receive isn't great from the midfield.

God help us at Chelsea.

Jammy? Second half Boro were much the better team.

They ripped our shit defence yes. But Lampard hit the post and 3 stonewall penos?

3 stonewall pens LOL, 1 maybe!
You are an idiot if that's what you think.

Kolarov handball - stonewall.

Aguero grappled from behind - stonewall

Kolarov take down - difficult due to the way they fell but stone fucking wall.

It goes to show what a shocking state of affairs our squad is in if we are saying we missed the importance of Yaya despite having a shed load of supposed european level talent losing two-nil to a Championship side.

I am starting to question Pellegrini now, good manager but not great.

this manager has no idea how to setup a team to defend. time after time to many players forward, always getting caught on counter attack. pathetic !

Dreadful.
From now on we need to only buy players who have a lot of fight in them.
as for the manager, maybe his days are numbered, the players he's bought, the tactics he uses, just wrong.
It's all well and good trying to out score the opposition, but it's not been working, have a plan b or even a plan c!
And maybe even work on our defensive game.

people will blame fernando and the GK but there are bigger problems than them two at present and those problems are getting worse but have been around for a while

1. Navas - hugely wasteful every time he gets into a good position...should have been benched weeks ago but manages to play every game nearly

2. Milner - jack of all trades and a master of none - all the positives about milner that anyone can come up with i would agree on....HOWEVER as an attacking player he is pretty non existent

3. Kolorov....everytime he plays our defence looks worse - he had a bit of a purple patch last season but since then he has been worse than ever - he just doesn't defend an as an attacking threat he is HUGELY overrated

4 Our reliance on silva when YAYA is not available - arsenal worked it out last week and he was crowded out and pretty much same thing happened today as teams know that you can let milner, naves fernando have the ball and they won't do anything with it except look for silva

Yes the mistakes by Cabellero (who I said pre season looked dodgy) and fernando were crucial (however fernando saved us a number of times before his mistake) but yet again MP can't get the balance of his team right

People can use no penalties/poor ref as an excuse but they are burying their heads in the sand. They will use the same scapegoat as ever in Jovetic BUT MP took our only other attacking threat off the pitch (other than silva) ...aguero isn't fit yet plays 90 mins.

Kompany being forced to dive in in areas because he has no cover in front of him time and time again......this has been a recurring theme since Pellegrini took over one that rarely happened under Mancini....

Why didn't he have a couple of the kids on the bench....(...got to be better than a half fit Dzeko (not a criticism of dzeko btw)

Why didn't he have one of the kids on the pitch instead of Navas who has been appalling for weeks!!!!?????

Hope the millionaires sleep well tonight...They need their rest, Aaaaw bless em.

Pellegrini needs a plan B very quickly. Our tactics have become extremely obvious and one dimensional, you just need to sit 10 behind the ball and then we seem to just struggle with everything. Stoke, Arsenal and now Boro have all done it in our home and walked away with 9 points.
I wish he wasn't so adamant and persistent with his tactics, and I know the players certainly aren't helping (every ones form has been all over the place).
I'm by no means calling for his head, but he needs to adapt otherwise we'll have to watch many similar games as the past two this season.

Onwards and upwards.

CTID

(Sidenote: We need a new RM, Navas is really not cutting it for me.)

Middlesbrough caught us at the right time along with them being right in the mix for promotion it was more than likely they can beat us.

Well, at least it is not the most embarrassing score of a day, Chelsea saved us there.
