Lovely Italian on the river, my favourite European city trip so far.
I’m pondering on going in August and staying in the Monastery Hotel as my Base in the Strahov Monastary area -which I gather have their own Pub. Is this a good option or too far out of things?Roma Hotel is in Mala Strana, not the Old town. The Old Town is the other side of the river.
It's a lovely area with a lot to see up there (castle, lovely parks, monastery, beautiful library etc) but it is on top of quite a steep hill and a bit of a walk from the main tourist areas. It's a nice walk so I don't mind it and would happily stay in that area. We're moving back to Prague in July and that is one of the areas we are considering.I’m pondering on going in August and staying in the Monastery Hotel as my Base in the Strahov Monastary area -which I gather have their own Pub. Sounds fine to me -thanks for your reply. I’m just 65 -so get free Public Transport from what I’ve read -so that may come in handyIt's a lovely area with a lot to see up there (castle, lovely parks, monastery, beautiful library etc) but it is on top of quite a steep hill and a bit of a walk from the main tourist areas. That is correct. Not a huge amount of public transport in that area though. A few trams but they are quire regular and it's easy enough to get around. It's a lot quieter than the Old and New Towns but all the more pleasant for that IMO.Sounds fine to me -thanks for your reply. If I sort out my PID OAPs thing on the App in advance with Photo etc will I need to Validate it like you have to do with the Tickets? That is correct. As long as you have ID (passport or national ID card) showing your age and photo, you shouldn't have to do anything else.If I sort out my PID OAPs thing on the App in advance with Photo etc will I need to Validate it like you have to do with the Tickets?
Thanks a lot for the TipsAs long as you have ID (passport or national ID card) showing your age and photo, you shouldn't have to do anything else.
You can do the PID OAP pass if you don't like carrying your ID around with you.
