Re: Pre Match Thread: Chelsea vs. Man City

The defence hasn't been great this month (December wasn't bad), but it's always had a mistake in it for a couple of years, The bigger problem at the moment is scoring in both the 2-0 defeats we had chances to take the lead, especially the Middlesborough game. Hopefully Aguero can get his sharpness back for Chelsea, When was the last time we went 3 without scoring? My guess is 2-2.

It would be mad to start with kompany and aguero , neither are anywhere near match fit , our last run of victories was without any recognised strikers , so for this game we should revert to this . HART - ZABS , MDM , MANGALA , CLICHY - NAVAS , FERNANDINHO , FERNANDO , SILVA , MILNER - JOVETIC . The only way the chavs will score is from a set piece or a dodgy penalty , they will be practising their diving against the dippers and should have perfected their technique by saturday.

I genuinely hope MP is not thinking alike

I fully expect City to win on Saturday, not even contemplating any other result - 2-1 City..!

Exactly how I see it. We've just lost two matches at home and failed to score in either of them.

Despite what Khaldoon said "Typical City" is alive and well!

We will win at Stamford Bridge.

This team have been champions twice in the last three seasons for a reason.

We are better than Chelsea and we will prove it on Saturday evening.

Re: Pre Match Thread: Chelsea vs. Man City

Expecting a draw from this one and it is quite simply because Mourinho knows how to get results that matter. They aren't going to risk going for it and they know that right now we can't score for peanuts. All that matters to Mourinho is that their hardest game for the rest of this year is this one and getting a draw will mean they go one game closer with the hardest out of the way.

They will lodge up in the middle as usual, expose our diabolical play out wide and it will huff and puff into a nothing game. Beyond us not scoring they will just try and steal the game with a goal on the counter or similar whilst we are desperately trying to win the league in what is really just another game of many to come. The smarter team will always win and at the moment we are not playing smart in any shape or form, we are playing desperately, out of control and just frustrating ourselves.

For those mentioning our defence, forget that, we haven't scored in 2 games now and next up is virtually best defence in the country. I am not worried how many Chelsea might score, I'm worried just how we will score. We haven't put more than 2 against Chelsea for years and really can you see them opening up to allow us to have chances?

Try and get it so we at least occasionally have two men in midfield, instead of one man chasing after three men like a nutter. Keep Navas and Aguero high up the pitch to take advantage of their horrendous lack of pace at the back

I like the look of this. VK is having a horror show at the moment. If we shove Silva wide mf then Maureen knows there will be a hug gap in front of Clichy to exploit.

Far too sensible a post :-)

I agree completely. The only tiny little exception is that this is football, and as we have just seen at the weekend, in football anything can happen.

By all logic, this game will be a 0-0 or we will lose it. But will I be shocked if we win it? Nope, because you just can't call it by logic.

Chelsea don't have to go for it MOANinho will think and probably right they can win the game on dead ball situations.. It will be a parked bus..
