Premier League agrees the "New Deal for Football" aka please don't regulate us.

It's a balls that they are devaluing the League Cup. Seems very lazy.

Correct.

We’ve had tougher games and/or better atmospheres and bigger crowds against teams from lower divisions in the early rounds of the domestic Cups than many CL Group Stage games we’ve played.

In 2017 we played Wolves at home in the EFL Cup when they were in the Championship and there was a crowd of 50,755 there. In the CL that same month we played Napoli in front of 48,520.

Last season we played Fulham at home in the FA Cup when they were in the Championship and there was a crowd of 53,400 there which was higher than all our CL home gates last season, including games against Paris, Atlético and Madrid.
The Wolves EFL Game game was an exception but not the rule. Normally midweek EFL games suffer - in 18/19 Fulham 35000 and Burton in the semi 30,000.

Early round FA Cup different - often not on TV, weekend afternoon, large away support and cheap tickets marketed for the family. I love them.

Madrid CL s/f sold out in a few days and was the biggest grossing ££ game we've had. Comparing that to Fulham at home in the FA Cup is like chalk and cheese.

Each to their own but CL games for me overall including the group games albeit some are dead rubbers. But what a 2nd half alst week...
