Premier League clubs vote against 5 subs per match in 20/21

Was initially in favour of this, but with hindsight it was admittedly a bad call. With the amount of games being played, they need to protect the players.

Very bad call, The amount of injuries so far this season have been incredible. Not only would 5 subs protect players but would also give youth an opportunity too to get minutes in Premier League games.

not sure who said it,but muscle injuries are up by 50% this season and it will rise, whoever voted no for 5 subs should be made to have 3 subs ,the rest can have 5, blinkered halfwits

What really should have happen is international football suspended for the season, the league cup likewise and no FAC replays. Much more radical would be to reduce all matches to 80 minutes. I would also not count U21 players as part of the number of subs on the bench. Cancel the Euro’s and spread the seasonal to the end of May

I agree with every point made except the 80 minute game thing. Reducing game length would only result in teams pacing for 80 mins, rather than 90, by increasing their tempo accordingly.
Thus the 80 minute game would take the same physical effort as the 90 minute game by being played at a more frantic pace.

Probably to do with the richer clubs having a deeper squads with superior players giving them an advantage. The poorer clubs struggle to put out a competitive side at the best of times.

I can’t see the logic in any team voting against 5 subs, the ridiculous schedule we have these days and the top clubs having additional European games it was a must to protect the players ....

I’d love to know what the driving force and reason to vote against was? Ludicrous decision ...!

Yet every other top league in Europe allows 5 subs, utter cowardice from clubs who voted against 5 subs.
