Premier League Vote (Updated)

Although it's not the same, the authorities should have taken a very close look at the situation in Spain where there is a huge differential in the income of the Big 2, versus the rest. In this case, this is due to how their TV deals have been structured in such a way that Barca and Real get almost all of it between them, whereas the rest have to live on peanuts. This doesn't mean that Spanish clubs can't play the kind of game we admire, both Bilbao and Athletico Madrid being proof of that, but the point I am making is that these clubs are in no position to take that final step into Champions League glory, unlike the Big 2. Those clubs who have voted for our version of FFP have, in their own way, slit their own throats and likewise can never be anywhere near competing for glory.

Guy I know is a Newcastle fan and he thinks it's great that FFP is coming in, he reckons it will stop the teams at the top pulling away from the rest. I asked him to explain why he thinks this will happen and his response was teams like us wont be able to go out and spend money all the time on top players to make the gap bigger.
My response to that, which he couldn't understand, was this will not stop clubs spending money, it is designed to stop clubs making losses. Essentially, if club A makes £100m in a year, they can spend that, if club B makes £50m in a year, they can spend that. So clubs who earn more money through marketing etc... will have more to spend. This will mean the "bigger" clubs who generate more through marketing and receive prize money from playing in the top competitions will be able to spend more than others therefore, in theory, the gap will widen.
I think the way this has been "spun" by those who want to bring it in is very clever. I really cant understand how people think this is a fair system? If everyone had the same cap on how much they can spend regardless of income, fair enough.
Apparently, I'm only saying this because I'm a blue, the truth is, we are well on our way to becoming a self sufficient club, making profit etc... so really I don't think this will affect us, but it will stop growth of other clubs and in the end the PL will suffer when all the top players go to Spain, Germany etc... because they will be paid more there than here.

Your friend probably reads the Sun and the other red top nonsense that's printed in them.

Nothing there that will affect us in any way..On the contrary with our already mammoth wage bill we are in the driving seat.
As for the cap on losses it´s very much softer than the UEFA-FFPR who we already are working towards.
The only difference as far as I have seen (so far) is that UEFA allows for certain expenses to be deductable from their calculations while the Prem version allows certain add-ons to the wages instead.

Big clubs will continue to get larger sponsorship deals to offset spend and the rest will not be able to attract such deals and will be further behind in the end.

If FFP effects foreign players joining the premier league it might promote better support for youth set ups, developing better young english players in the process. And besides alot of people seem to agree it wont effect our ability to stay at the top so fuck it

lawyers, FD's, accountants working on the loop hole already :-)

There is no loop hole really, no need for one either..The prem rules are very relaxed and will not affect any club seriously.

Unless you plan to do a "City style" charge to the very top making huge losses during a few years that is.

Why worry..

This just strengthens citys position. Clubs like Villa,Everton,Sunderland etc etc will now NEVER be able to what we have done.

For me this has basicallymade the premiership a competion between Rags,City,Arsenal,Chelsea and Spurs...

Everyone else is just playing for scraps.

Our revenue streams/income is only going one way...
