President Joe Biden

I surely will. Please don't let my flippancy colour your judgement of me.

Nah, it's all good.

I don't mind anyone having a debate with me on subject matter, but all things are relevant and it's annoying when people argue from a false position that's accurate in the moment, but not true overall.

Biden's regressive in politics as the ideology he's believed in for years cannot suddenly change.

He's just the "lesser evil".

Which will do for now.

I can't pretend that I speak for you nor could I imagine walking a mile in your shoes but it seems to me that there is a groundswell of opinion in both the States and the UK the like of which I have not seen in my lifetime that suggests that the winds of change are in the air.

I hear loud and clear your point that for decades if not centuries these matters have been given lip service without real change but as an optimist I fervently hope and would like to believe that things will change and for the betterment of society as a whole but more importantly for the BAME community specifically.

A point I have believed for ages and which I think many in power fear is that the pendulum will not stop at 6.00 OClock but rather will swing past the middle and the aggrieved will take power away from the current establishment. That instills fear which (they feel) must be repressed at all costs.

Your observations are pretty astute about the overall situation when it comes to power.

I will say it's tiresome to hear people say 'wait your turn' every four years and the younger demographic are not ones of past generations, who have been brainwashed into 'the next politician has your back' thinking.

Today's youth and society have melded into one another's cultures(let's say Black and White for now) and is the very reason solidarity to fight is seen across the board. Black skaters, White rap fans, K-Pop and all these cultures are picking up the sword others have laid down.

And again, it's young Progressive voices that are being chosen as representatives for these groups who don't want war, want jobs that don't wreck the planet and are looking for harmony in people. They are the ones who are being voted in down ballot.

In its current form, capitalism is pretty much dying from profit drives. One poster foolishly claimed it's capitalism that gives average people jobs. No shit Sherlock! Progressives are not ANTI-Capitalist. They want to be able work a fair wage that takes them out of poverty and the ability to have healthcare supported by the Government that takes enough from their wages before they see it!

It's not hard to make the balance of both capitalism and societal responsibility (healthcare, less pollution, less war, better education, inclusivity) working in tandem, but according to quite a few on this board, that's not a good idea as profit is King!

As Sanders pointed out earlier this year, Biden is beholden to 60 (SIXTY!) billionaires contributing to his campaign whilst Sanders was propped up by the people.

And yet Biden is the man.

Ridiculous to think about, isn't it?!!

There seems to be a mixture of hope and despair in this post.

It is farcical to think that you can only get to the top in politics, especially to my untrained eye in the US, with vast swathes of cash but I guess the campaign trail is a costly business.

Regarding the melding of todays younger societal groups I think I view that as a positive, largely due the reasons you have pointed out. I feel I have been informed by more modern thinking.

In theory it is easy as pie to reconcile capitalism and social responsibility but that involves the corporations actually caring about their employees ahead of their shareholders, which isn't going to happen anytime soon. It is a vicious cycle. I do wonder if you or I were in a position of high office in a large company whether we would do the right thing and double our employees wages. Chances are we would get shouted down if we suggested such a preposterous notion.

It would be nice if people at the top thought this way but alas.

As an aside I feel, (and I have said this before) that the voices one tends to hear are not necessarily representative of the majority but soundbites towards the extremes. Bear with me here I am just blurting stuff out. I do see though more and more people towards the middle ground saying enough is enough. Will that change anything? I don't know but I hope so. More than I can remember the "ordinary" man or woman seem to be seeking to drive change so I hope and pray that things improve. We may find out on Nov 3rd.

Inane ramble over.

Just a random observation, but it does rather feel that the ‘Biden is senile’ argument seems to have faded away.
Because it was never actually true. It was a smear campaign from the right that some people on the left were happy to latch onto during the primary for whatever reason. The issue is that if you just listen to him speak for more than a minute or two, and don’t rely on selectively edited clips, it’s pretty obvious that while he isn’t some great orator, he clearly isn’t senile either.

This is literally the first speech you get when you google “Joe Biden”. Watch a minute or two...he’s fine:

This argument was lost in the primary process. There is a video where Sanders accepts this defeat and backs Biden. I'd dig it out and post it but i'd be wasting my time. In the same way that you waste your time with this anti Biden stuff on here. No one gives a shit about Sanders v's Biden.

Biden v's Trump is where it is at and you have to pick a side (note anything other than a vote for Biden is basically a vote for Trump). So what's it going to be?
