Prices for the away leg in Madrid SOLD OUT.

Bingo, although our new security officer really would like to know who is in our bit
People who have banning orders get their passports taken off them when there are European away nights, I know it's not fool proof but surely it is enough to stop them bothering putting everyone out? There will be times when someone who has an away ticket acts like a twat, but there's usually more than enough local police around to crack heads and arrest, so again why can't it just be left for the authorities to deal with situations when they arise? Not that I think City fans are a great problem away in Europe, I think generally we are pretty good natured, which just makes the whole thing even more annoying really. I'd love to know why we are implementing it, it just seems absolutely bizarre, fairly pointless and I doubt it will solve whatever problem they have imagined anyway. Probably just this Chisholm fella trying to justify his role.

Which is why I have been saying its a sledgehammer approach only to be called either a points whore or someone who buys off others.
My beef is having to give up my freedom of movement to satisfy some others who prefer a police state.
If it was to curb points whores surely they would have started with allocations to branches, and the games at United and Bournemouth? But that's not what they are really interested in

Collect in Destination will now be in place for all European away games.

I appreciate that this may be frustrating and take time out of supporters days however we feel this is a necessary security measure.

I am happy to pass your comments on in relation to the position of the collection point for future games.

Kind Regards

Holly

Another answer without an explanation as to why

I know it's madness
Which is why the club should have consulted with the fans to make it workable and equitable for all.
However the club are not really interested in fans getting into the game, only that the ones are there are 'known' to them in advance

How do you consult with the fans ? Email, open forum at the ground ? all you will get is 1,000+ different opinions - just look at this forum as an example. The club are damned if they do and damned if they don't.
This forum has moaned about Points whores -not my word, a word used regulalry on this forum for years. We moaned that genuine Blues could not get tickets for Ajax never mind Barcelona. We moaned that the problem was people bought them to keep their points total high - and now the club have done something about it - eveyone moans.
Everyone wanted to go to Seville because it is sunny and the beer is cheap rather than the football - Juventus proved that, cold, awkward to get to dear beer = loads of tickets, I wanted to go to Seville but did not dare risk paying for flights and travel before knowing if I would get a ticket, by the time I knew I could get a ticket the prices were out of my reach.
PSG went to zero points because everyone was told of the new system. I booked my travel and hotel well before my ticket.

I really do not see what the problem is.

Not being funny but a bit of research could've seen you get to Seville without spending an extortionate amount of money. It was mentioned widely on here that flying Liverpool to Madrid with EasyJet and then getting the high speed train from Madrid to Seville came out at about £140.00 all in return. Miles cheaper than flying to Malaga and getting a slower train - plus very little additional journey time either. That price hardly moved for weeks (in fact the rail journey was more expensive than the flight) and wasn't much more at the point that the tickets went on sale. It wasn't a ballache of a trip either - the train only takes 2 hours and 30 minutes from Madrid and all went smoothly. I was that impressed that I'm going to Seville again with the better half in June and doing it the same way, albeit getting flights from Manchester to Madrid with Ryanair this time. Of course, it could all go tits up if the flights/trains are delayed/cancelled but that risk is there with any route.

Does seem a bit annoying, especially when you may be queuing for ages, but for me, it becomes a lot easier to get tickets. I'm on the cup scheme with c10,000 points. I've got to some European aways no problem at all, and others I have come nowhere near. By the looks of things, with this measure, I should be able to get tickets, touch wood.

I also see it from the other point of view - in the past I've used my Dad's season ticket to get to a game as I don't qualify. This prevents that - when it is 'selling' a ticket to that relationship, I don't see it as 'point whoring' as many put it. So that is perhaps a bit harsh on people.

I just don't see a reason that justifies the inconvenience. As you rightly said it's not points whoring helping a mate out. most people will of done it at some point, the points are a bonus to helping a friend out I'd like to believe. It's more aimed at the people saying its security related etc. Not heard one solid reason why this solution helps anything.
