Protesters

Protest peacefully. Don't disrupt others and cause them disruption distress and financial loss. Alternatively campaign via the ballot box. Get voted in and change things. Ah not enough support?? so they have to try and force their minority opinions on others. That's the real issue here.

No it’s not. The real issue is that human activity is destroying the planet. As far as I'm concerned, in the scheme of things, they can disrupt to their heart’s content.

Disruption is the only thing that gets things done.

The same was said of the suffragettes, they were seen as trouble causes.

The difference here is these protestors aren’t protesting for their democratic rights, they’re protesting to save humanity and the majority of nature.

This topic goes far beyond Brexit or the right to vote or democracy. We don’t get another go at this once we’ve wrecked this planet.

I feel the right wing elements look at these lot as scruffy lefty hippies, which some definitely are but this discussion transcends left vs right... this is life vs death.

It’s a frustration for those commuting but there won’t be anything to commute to if we don’t do something.

There’s 13 pages on this thread about one set of protests, it’s been over the news all week, politicians are talking about it, BBC 1 did a whole show in prime time on it with Attenborough... these protests have worked to get it in the public eye.

Even if there’s a 10% chance of the doomsday predictions being right, then surely we’ve got a responsibility to decisively act. What we are doing to the oceans is on a par with the holocaust imo. Utterly disgusting and reprehensible. A complete stain on humanity.

Planet would be far better off if 95% of humans disappeared tbh.

I think it was C. Hitchens who said that even if we cannot be 100% sure it’s humans who are warming the planet, we should act as though it is anyway.

We don’t have another planet to run an experiment on... it’s not worth the chance.

Even with that in mind the data shows it to almost definitely us, a simple graph showing Co2 output by us and warmth shows you the obvious nature to it.

Taking away the major point of greenhouse gases, renewable energy/green living has many other benefits to society too.

It’s not just climate change. Even if you discount that out of hand, the plastics were are selfishly dumping into the oceans are as egregious a collective act that humanity has ever conspired to deliver.

The biggest ‘fuck you’ in human history. Towards fish, aquatic mammals and crustaceans ffs.

I agree 100% mate. There's a huge difference between saving the planet and making the planet better for humans.

I’m hoping with this being so public many have had a big wake up call.

Putting Caroline Lucas in Downing St and like-minded individuals in office around the world is the fastest way to reverse these travesties but it’s unfortunstely not going to happen.

The sea is the bit of the planet we least know about.......so ignorance has been bliss. We have done the same time after time through history - we buried our shite - we burned it and filled the air.........landfill is full.....clean air acts have come in but we have found the sea a handy dustbin.

And pricks are moaning about their Easter weekend being inconvenienced. If ever a sentiment summed up why humanity is fucked, that was it. Talk about fiddling while the planet burns. Selfish cunts.
