The sea is the bit of the planet we least know about.......so ignorance has been bliss. We have done the same time after time through history - we buried our shite - we burned it and filled the air.........landfill is full.....clean air acts have come in but we have found the sea a handy dustbin.

Why should should ‘the left’ have a monopoly on common sense, a sense of self-preservation and a desire for our species to not utterly despoil the planet?

Why should should ‘the left’ have a monopoly on common sense, a sense of self-preservation and a desire for our species to not utterly despoil the planet?

No idea I’m just rejoicing in the fact someone thinks I’m a lefty, okay it might not be the brightest poster on the forum but still. Anyhow on a serious note the thread is pretty depressing, we can argue about football, left or right, brexit/remain but the reaction by some on here really does pose the question are we worth bothering about? When you have human beings disinterested in climate change, the shit in the oceans, the air our kids breath it’s hard not to wish the worst for us.

Then you see kids whether aware fully or not striking from schools, that young girl in Sweden starting a movement on her own and now these protests I think hope is there but it’s slim. I look at my grandkids and realise I’m happy to sacrifice.

As for the arseholes on here more bothered about their own comfortable life I hope they get the future they deserve. You have to be a special kind of **** to ignore the problems because you want what you want before you pop your clogs.

Completely agree.

I’m sure if you said to people, we can save the planet, but it means everyone taking two days a year less holiday, a decent chunk of people would moan about it, because of how it would directly impact on them.
