Pollution and habitat loss I am concerned about, global warming much less so as it's a natural cycle it's happened in the past it will happen again and i believe mankind is resourceful enough to survive. Have a read about the late glacial loch Lomond Stadial. It happened very quickly, circa <100 years.

I have consciously omitted reference to global warming in any of my posts in this thread because human causation thereto is uncertain, although more likely than not imo. Too much of a coincidence in conjunction with the proliferation in fossil fuel use over the course of the last century to casually dismiss, as some do.

What is conspicuous is that human causation towards the two other manifestations you cite is not open to debate, the former of which is less capable of being corrected over time by the planet itself, especially the within the oceans due to the quantity of plastics were are selfishly dumping in there

Anyone criticising people for protesting about our destructive influence on this planet’s eco-structure has zero sense of perspective and/or absolutely no appreciation of the wider world and human technology’s impact upon it.

The UK is pretty much irrelevant in all of that and have more or less got our house in order already. It's the developing world whose continued activities are often shameful.

When governments instruct business and the corporate world to change then its fair enough to ask ordinary people to take notice.

Until such a time everyone is pissing in the wind and frankly paying for environmental policies that are about as much use as a chocolate fire guard.

That is the point of the protest. Getting people’s attention so that they will pressurise this government into taking the action you suggest. We cannot do this individually it takes governments to change their policy for changes to take place.

Well said. Something has to be done - and people should not be criticised for doing what they can to bring this about. People need to realise just how serious this is and that we are going to have to greatly change the way we live our lives, myself included. Our casual abuse of the planet has to end, and at the end of the day, that has to be more important than a few criminal damage and obstruction of the highway, summary only offences.

Nail on the head , we could be 100% carbon neutral and have the greenest economy in the world . We would still be dead as the problem isnt in The U.K. but countries such as india, China Russia and sadly the USA.

What REALLY pisses me off though mate is that the hippies camped out in London probably know fuck all about it. Half of them are the same bearded, dungaree-wearing, unemployed, benefits-funded tossers who survive on lentils and camp out at Stonehedge at the equinox. In all seriousness, some of them would have us go back to ploughing with oxen and reviving "industries" like basket-weaving. They're fucking fruit cakes, half of them.

When you do not get a response to your demands for people to account to you for their views - I really do doubt that it is because they are feeling exposed and embarrassed by the weight of your arguments and the shallowness of their own - I think that it is much more likely that your style makes people think - '....can't be arsed with him.'

I know that this can sound condescending - but I genuinely am trying to offer advice with good intention.

You used to be all shouty on the Brexit threads. I remember that you posted that you were making an effort to change your style - and IMO you were successful for quite a while.

I think that you should try again and more generally - you seem to be passionate about a range of issues and that is positive and good for debate - you would surely find more satisfaction from people being bothered to engage with you.

Anyone who denies climate change or doesn’t give a fuck at what humans are doing to the planet isn’t just someone with a difference of opinion we should respect, they’re a total ****.

When you read the posts of those that have responded a couple of them are the most obnoxious people posting on this forum.

Not all of them as there’s some that don’t believe it actually is us doing the warming and I’m happy to be civil with them, it’s those that don’t give a fuck who I can’t stand.

They don’t give a fuck but for themselves and GDM, who’s considered a more reasonable poster to me, has given it them as well.

And with all due respect, I don’t post to get anyone’s approval and that includes yours.

I tried to tone down my posting on the Brexit thread to stop the debate becoming personal, I didn’t do it to make anyone like me more, which I couldn’t really care about.

There’s plenty critical of me and plenty critical of you on this forum and I’ve got no problem being heavily critical of some of the ignorant wankers that post.
