Protests against prorogation of Parliament

The clip that I saw on telly this morning had lots of people waving eu flags. Seemed like they were shooting themselves in the foot. Turning a protest against the abuse of power by the government into just another stop brexit protest.

Good point. Polling in Scotland shows that the identity of ‘independence’ and ‘remain’ is becoming fused and is one of the reasons Davidson exited stage left. In England there is not the same dynamic but it’s clear that being Remain or pro EU is becoming a clear identity in its own right. In Scotland this has a vehicle with the SNP which means it can become dominant whereas in England it’s less clear and probably in the short term detrimental rather than helpful.

Even rarer that you and I agree, but you're right with this.

It is noticeable that the Labour leadership has distanced itself from these demonstrations and the legal challenges to prorogation.

All this futile activity does is add fuel to Johnson's "us and them" argument and for once he's right, there is a "us and them" but in this case at least, Corbyn is not the "them"

"Them" is Cameron, Blair, Clegg, even May, this One Nation Tory, Third Way Blairite, North London, love the EU darling, Guardian reading, agreeable dinner parties mush. As condescending in its way as the old landed gentry, they believe in a country fit only for Richard Curtis to live in.

Remember....Things can only get better...

But it was always going to end up here...

Because it doesn't matter what you think of Farage, Johnson, Gove, Mogg, Corbyn and McDonnell, whether you consider them liars, charlatans, dangerous traitors or otherwise, each one of them speaks for a real constituency in this country, when they pull levers, they're connected to something.

When push came to shove, when Cameron, Blair, Clegg and May pulled their levers, they were found to be connected to nothing, beyond agreeable people like themselves.

There's far to much blue in there shouldn't they be in red

I often find those that engage with protesting are usually the ones that cannot string two reasonable arguments together, when it comes to politics.
And I often find you to be wrong for assuming things like that. I have been on protests since the age of 14 and I am more than capable of stringing together a cogent argument on any number of subjects due to the fact I educate myself about politics.

Lazy assumption really does do the democratic right to protest a huge disservice. It ranks alongside the other ridiculous myths spouted like they must not work, they are lazy, they don't wash. etc etc. The media does a superb job in poisoning the minds of people who are against others expressing their democratic rights. The right to protest is integral to the democratic process, I don't necessarily agree with some of the protests but I certainly uphold their right to do so. I mean I am even in favour of allowing those clueless clowns from the EDL the right to make cunts out of themselves

Protesting can change history, the poll tax riots, did the job and helped get rid of Thatcher.

I completely uphold their right to do so, I’ve no idea why you’ve included that in your post.

There’s obviously exceptions but every time they interview someone they seem to be complete morons and can’t back up why they’re even there.

Has it ever crossed your mind why the media pick those people to interview?

Maybe you should take a closer look.

If people weren’t allowed the right to make cnuts of themselves where would the Brexit thread be?
