Protests against prorogation of Parliament

Protesting can change history, the poll tax riots, did the job and helped get rid of Thatcher.

It absolutely does I just think doing it every other week doesn’t change much and I wish people would learn what they’re protesting for and how others perceive them. Protesting is in the news so often now it’s no longer becoming news.

Take the democracy against Johnson march. It was littered with EU flags and became another anti Brexit march - how is that going to help?

Helped, although probably secondary to Howe and Heseltine’s assaults over Europe. And she was generally losing her grip at that time.

Difficult to think of a protest since that's had genuine impact - maybe the stop the war ones before Iraq, but obviously they didn't work. I think the key with those was that they genuinely struck a chord with the populous. Leave/remain, and climate ones tend to just preach to the already converted, or pass people by.

The only time I’ve come close to protesting was when I was a student. One of my mates was forever going on marches. He admitted that, although he genuinely believed in the causes that he was marching for, he also really got a kick out of it. He got a buzz over the potential for a ruck. The thing that nearly convinced me to join him was that he reckoned he nearly always got his leg over after a demo!

I agree to an extent, there's an awful lot of limp wristed protests over all sorts of things.

Going back to the poll tax riots, people were genuinely angry, but were willing to back it up.

Those riots absolutely shook the establishment, and brought around change.
