If you would care to study Agincourt we were greatly outnumbered and the normal battle plan went out the window tha knights and nobles dismounted and sent their horses to the rear took up the bow and fired volley after volley into the massed French armoured knights this stopped them dead in the mud ,only after that did the English nobles wade in with the rest of the army and a bloody mud spattered 5 hour slog with swords and axes took place.

Find me one reputable source that states that archers ever had their fingers cut off.

As for your post above, first fucking lol at the "if you would care to study Azincort", second that is plainly not true. Try reading

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Agincourt-1415-Michael-K-Jones/dp/1844152510/ref=sr_1_8?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1344590507&sr=1-8" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.amazon.co.uk/Agincourt-1415- ... 507&sr=1-8</a>

and my favourite:

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.amazon.co.uk/Agincourt-1415-Triumph-Against-Campaign/dp/1855321327/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1344590507&sr=1-7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.amazon.co.uk/Agincourt-1415- ... 507&sr=1-7</a>

The knights and noblemen (ie the Men at Arms) did not "dismount and take up the bow", for a start they were not armed with bows and secondly, that is the reason they had fucking archers in the first place, to take up the bow. I have not read one book from the half dozen I have read on the subject that ever suggests otherwise. Also, 90% of the men at arms weren't on horseback in the first place so would have had no horsey to get off.

Unless, again, you have a source.

(ps - If after you have read those historical dissections and studies and fancy an historical fiction book on the subject, "Azincort" by Bernard Cornwell is an ok read.
Ah noblemen didnt take up the bow thats why we had fuckin archers wasnt our greatest longbowman ever a noble, im talking about Robin Hood or to give him his correct name Sir Robin of Loxley funny that every time i see a picture or statue of him hes got agreat big fuckin bow in his hand.
Richard Green and Kevin Costner wouldv been dissapointed with some of the history on here

In my roll as Greek cultural attache to Wrexham, I can assure you that Helen was not of Troy, Troy does not have a womb so there is nowhere for the fetus to gestate.

My favourite part of this thread is that the Axis of Daily Mail started off by arguing over the French's inherent cowardice, listing numerous very well researched examples of France losing military battles, and then back tracking over the last few pages trying to make out their G.C.S.E history homework was meant to be "ironic" and "a bit of fun."

Guess that's an admission that their earlier posts were ridiculous, and a changing of their views to a more considered and balanced one, which is good enough for me.
I've not seen any backtracking. I think you're making it up.

I'd love to read one of your homework essays on immigration. Nice username by the way.

Congratulations; a gold medal in pomposity. When I suggested "moving on" I didn't mean from jibes about Burnley homes to yet more cheap asides about GCSEs, history homework and people's monickers. That last one is hilarious from one who styles himself "shaelumstash". There you go: irony again. Look it up in the dictionary some time, preferably before your next post.

Nobody's backtracked as you fondly imagine. Nor are they likely to in the face of the condescending drivel you serve up. No humour, no humility and a wasted education.

P.S. Nice work, swp's back.

You can suggest "moving on" all you want, but what on earth makes you think I am going to stop replying to another poster at your request?! And you have the nerve to call me pompous! You cheeky chap.

Again you've clearly misunderstood my post to SWP, this keeps happening so it might be best you just leave me to have this debate with other posters because it's a waste of my time to keep going back and explaining it to you.

The Daily Mail has a well renowned anti-immigration stance, so I was interested to know SWP's views on that subject, seen as his username is related to a former English City player of immigrant heritage.

I'm not suggesting he has anti immigration views, and I would also be surprised if he only wanted players to play for City who descended from Druids, so I am genuinely interested in his opinion on the subject. For the record, I'm not really interested in your opinion on the subject, I've "moved on".
