QPR vs City: Post match discussion [Merged]

Re: QPR,our hardest game so far..

we played on Weds in Spain. They had all week to wind themselves up for a Cup Final

Great win. I expected a point

Last Week
City awarded 5 fouls Wolves 17

Now
QPR awarded 14 fouls City 5

Bit worrying how refs are not giving us free kicks but awarding them to the opposition like they are going out of fashion. 1st goal today was a joke free kick, player tripped himself up.

Was just going to comment about this. We do seem to be being giving a very disproportionate amount of free kicks away and many in dangerous positions. This week and last week we seem to be penalised for the merest contact. Think we better get used to it.
Very average performance by the standards we have set ourselves. Great result. Its good to show we can grind out a result. Sign of champions.

Savic had a good solid game, ESPECIALLY for a Premier League debut in a tight game!

Helguson uses his "Shearer" technique of get up early and ride the defender, which is VERY hard to deal with. Additionally, we play this BS "zonal marking" from dead balls, which gives the ATTACKER a running start on our standing jump defenders, which is a GREAT advantage to the attacker. Fix THAT and we MIGHT look a tad tidier from dead balls.

Oh, and could we practice ONE THROW-IN........PLEASE?!!

M.O.M. = James Milner!

I'm sorry but Savic had anything but a "solid game". He was lucky not to give away a pen; beaten in the air on almost every occasion and was at fault for both their goals.

Good win but lucky to get three points today. Poor performance.

Hope Kompany and Lescott stay fit becuse the thought of Savic or Toure being in the side for long doesnt appeal.

If we come back from Naples and play like that v Liverpool, we wont get 3 points.

I suppose that's you being happy...

We will play much better and fail to come away with 3 points and play worse and win more comfortably than we did today.

Overall we lacked the sharpness and ability to defend with the usual poise today.

Despite letting in two goals which he in all fairness could do little about , Hart was MOM for me today and was more instrumental in ensuring we came away with the win albeit a lucky one.

The break comes at a good time as we looked a bit jaded today.

QPR will trouble a few sides at home but unless they buy well they will in the mix for the drop with around 7 other sides.

Their back four is not good enough for the premiership and they will continue to leak goals.

savic didnt have the best of games but losing headers wasnt the big problem, the big problem was where he was losing them - we defended way to deep meaning every header they won was in and around our box - should have pressed game higher up the pitch

having said all that - phew!!

and there must have been 25 passes before the third goal

Yep a big learning curve for Savic, his postioning was also poor especially their second where he played them onside and the rest of our defence argued with the ref/ linesman that it was offside. Thinking our defence would never be in that postion.
We as as a club learn from these games you dont improve if you roll over everyone in front of you.

Not the best performance. But, another win. Job done going into the International Break. Thought Richards had a very poor game today.

Two different scenarios though.

Last week we had a blatently corrupt referee with an agenda.

This week we were passed off the park and chasing the ball, meaning we committed more genuine fouls.
