R.I.P Harry Dowd

Harry was a City legend, and one of my favourite players in the early sixties, Big Mal famously said of his team talk to Harry:-

"Right Harry, we are playing Arsenal tomorrow...and they play in red and white"..............lol!

Off topic, but I bumped into Stan Horne recently. and City fans will be pleased to know he was fit and well, and still follows the blues.....

I once played against City veterans side organised by Frank Carrodus at Silver Wings Timperley. Harry was in goal & must have been 40 something . I had a chance to slip it past him into the corner and he shocked me how quick he got down and saved it. R.I.P Harry

I've got the prog from Leyton Orient that had him down as "Henry David". After the 69 Cup Final Mercer called him "the unsung hero". Best save I saw was one where the ball had gone past him and he managed to twist back and save it.

I first went to watch city in 1964/65 the 2 goalies were Harry Dowd and Alan Ogley,Harry was my favourite goalie great memories of that era R.I.P you will always be remembered Harry.
