R.I.P Maine Road :( (Moments)

Re: R.I.P Maine Road :( Moments

i have a tat saying simply maine road out of respect. i was (and still am) davestated we left but i suppose we had to move with the game. as for great memories it would have been my favouroute when we beat utd in the last ever derby but my dad stopped me going cos id been suspended from school. i,ll never forgive him, saying that hes paid for my season ticket since i was 6 and im 21 now. when we beat wigan to go to wembley and i legged it from the top tier of the kippax on to the pitch. worst memory has got to be the death of foe who i had asked my dad to get on the back of my new shirt if he signed the deal he never got sign... rip marc

As previously mentioned - the rite of passage to 'Crazy Corner' in the Kippax.

However looking at that photo, the thing I miss most is the walk through all the terraced house roads and down the ginnels to get to the ground. The hairs used to stand on the back of my neck and the heart pumped that little bit faster with every corner turned, bringing the stadium into view. A glimpse of a flood light, a white arch from the main stand, then a whole stand. All the while the crowds getting busier and the noise and atmosphere rising. You don't really get that with COMS. It's impressive and all that but it's like it's plonked in the middle of nowhere. There was more of a sense of 'going home' at Maine Road.
THIS^^^!!

going to a night game, walking through moss side seeing the top of the kippax and walking along with the lads singing songs

my dad throwing a pie at the linesman
my dad throwing his chicken breast a schmicael (when he was a rag)

I,ve got that fella signed by the whole squad from that season my proper pride and joy :0). That vid really brought a lump to my throat, still miss the place with every bone in my body right up until we actually left I used to get just as excited about going to maine road as I did as a kid, don't quite get the same buzz going to eastlands. Best memories have to be in no particular order.

The surge in the old kippax after a goal.

The little tea trolley that used to go round the fronts of the stands, asking for what you wanted then asking for something else then just disappearing into the crowd without paying(cmon you know you've done it).

Cold rainy night games (always seemed so different at maine road almost spiritual)

Quinny against derby saving that penalty.

My mates dad getting us into the exec boxes when the new platt lane was still being built, even better franny lee clocking us and asking somebody to move us to the maine stand for our safety.

Paying a fiver to get in (right up till I was about 20 damn these youthfull looks lol)

Could go all night but these are just some stand out ones, nothing can ever compare to dear mother maine road.
