What were you saying about excuses?
Pah, can't wait to tonk you again and you'll be papping yourself.
But they're not excuses; they're facts.
If you lost Kompany for the rest of the season, you would be in trouble, having to rely on Savic as permanent cover. You know it and I know it. Yet, we have lost arguably the best CB in world football, and still, we have had one of the best starts to a Premiership season.
One of the things that make me laugh is the lack of appreciation of what we have done this season under the circumstances. Most United fans - begrudgingly - I'm one of them - would admit that you have been the best team this season. Spurs are up there of course, but all round, from front to back, you have played the best football. We on the other hand have blown hot and cold. The start of the season we were unbeatable. The combination of Anderson and Cleverley in midfield with the energy and flair on the wings and up-front, was producing some great results. Then we got injuries to both Anderson and Cleverley, and the shape and balance of the side looked out of sorts. We regained some form over the Christmas period; and apart from the Blackburn and Newcastle games, have begun to look stronger, after regaining some semblance of a balanced side. The form of Rooney, Carrick, Valencia, Smalling, Evans - and the return of Scholes, has made us look like a good side again. Today's result was indicative of the season as a whole for us: Top quality the one minute, and clueless defensively the next.
Funny thing is, I actually like the fact you're up there with us. It has definitely reinvigorated the manager; and the player are now relishing the challenge.
