Raheem Sterling | Arsenal Player (on loan)

Can you imagine Silva doing that? Or Zabaleta if a City fan was amongst West Ham fans after he left? Or Vinnie doing that over in Belgium when he was managing there? Or Sergio refusing a City shirt in Barcelona? Not a chance would they do that. Because they’re City legends and Sterling isn’t anywhere close. At least this puts that argument to bed. There’s an important distinction between being a legend with a genuine affinity to the club compared to just being an employee.
More accurate.
Works both ways, too. As soon as he signed for them I started following Sociedad social media to check on Merlin’s time there. Same with Kompany. Loving that Zabba is on the tour to the States.

Couldn’t care less what Sterling does. I wish him well though. He served us in his prime and contributed. He doesn’t see the club like the legends do, and that’s fair enough. Us as fans don’t see him in the way we see said legends. Also fair enough.

If he was chasing money he’d have stayed at city. Got paid a wedge still, still got in the England team regardless of his city selection and picked up a massive signing on fee next summer. He didn’t

He's getting more at Chelsea and he'd have got a signing on fee too. He could have signed the extension we offered and continued playing for the best team in the country, but the money wasn't right so he's gone.
His nose been out of place since we refused to match him to KDB's wage.

I genuinely can't imagine anyone caring or even posting a video of it if he'd signed it. If a video is posted of Kalvin Phillips signing a bunch of shirts including a Leeds one this week I don't think I would even notice... It's less about him not wanting to anger the new fans and more about him overtly doing something to appeal to them whilst dismissing a City fan in the process.
It's all a bit pathetic really. Who cares.

Signing on fee would have been significantly higher next year. Much more than the extra in wages he’s currently getting now. I’m not his biggest fan but do you not think being back in London was a big factor too?

Same few rag posters crawling out of woodwork to comment on this in the middle of the night. How bans haven’t been given I don’t know, it’s not even subtle.

Silly thing for Raz to do, but I was SWP do the exact same thing before moving to QPR.

Crickey I thought Raz had done something really nasty.

The thing with social media Raz would have got stick of some of the chavs for signing a City shirt. He gets some stick for not signing a City shirt. He was in a no win situation.

I dare say Raz didnt sign all the Chelsea shirts !

It doesnt bother me, to me Raz was a top player for us and I wish him well.

I think it probably shows how much tension there was between possibly the club or pep that sterling never done a farewell video interview like gabby did?
Think Sterling had his nose pushed out of joint because City wouldn't pay him the same money as De Bruyne, big difference between world class and playing for England.

So after seven years of defending Sterling when out-of-context quotes / actions were used to make him look bad in the press, people are jumping to condemn him at the first opportunity over an out-of-context video

Some of yous need to fucking grow up

The thing about Raz is, he's always had a chip on his shoulder, he always thinks things are unfair and that people are out to get him(which tbf, was 100% true for a l9ng time after moving to us). I think that's what's driven him and gotten him to where he is, determined to prove people wrong, but at the same time it makes him harder to really like. This just seems like an extension of that.

Doesn't affect what he did tor the club, he'll always be remembered for what a massive part hw played in (hopefully) the first Pep era of domination. Think he'll be remembered more like Yaya though, rather than the warmth of someone like Zabba

I'm confused. Is it vogue now to not like Sterling? Or is it the opposite.

Twas easier when he was just missing chances.

Wouldn't bother me at all if one of our players signed a shirt of their former club, especially if they'd literally just joined us. I'd see it as a nice thing they'd done for a fan.

But it also doesn't particularly bother me that Raz didn't sign that shirt. If the person asking was a genuine City fan then I sympathise (and if it was me I might feel a little put out).

But he doesn't owe us anything. He was ours and now he's not. I'm not going to get worked up if he wants to distance himself from us or try to get in his new fans' good books.

He was very good for us for a long time and I have fond memories and hope he'll get a warm welcome when he returns to the Etihad. He'd have to do a lot more than refuse to sign a shirt to significantly tarnish his legacy with me.

Sign the shirt. No drama.

I would have signed if I was him but he didn’t, okay cool
I guess. I’m more surprised at fhe strong reaction to it.

You obviously wouldn't see it as a big deal. I don't,either. But, clearly, there's quite a few on here who do.

That’s what I find surprising. I remember Mourinho refusing to sign a Chelsea shirt not long after moving to Spurs. Some Chelsea fans were up in arms about it then too. I found that really weird too.
