People need to understand that Raheem Sterling is 20.
Thats 20 years old.
Lets look at other top players when they were 19/20 years old
Messi - 26 games - 14 goals
C.Ronaldo - 33 games - 5 goals
Bale - 16 games - 0 goals
Reus - 17 games - 1 goal

Sterling
18/19 - 33 games - 9 goals
19/20 - 33 games - 7 goals
The only player with better goal stats at that age was Messi in a Barca team.
Sterling plays in a team full of losers fighting for 6th place...
Im not saying he is going to be Messi/ Ronaldo standard. My point being that he is only young and can only improve.
In the coming years if he signed for us he will be physically stronger, more experienced and playing with better players.
I think he would be a fantastic signing.

Your right to show these Stats, and they are very impressive, but i'm starting to get a little bit nervous about this lad. The more I here about him and his antics, I'm wondering if he's going to be a pain in the arse for us too? Will he do the same at City in 3-4 years and drag us through the mud. Not sure.................

I don't think he's done fuck all wrong,he wants to move because he wants to win medals, plenty players do it,he ain't gonna win fuck all at liverpool, they're in decline.
I'd say liverpool are dragging him through the mud.

Most top players carry baggage especially in their early 20s. Clubs always try to marry there stars off so they settle down.
I do think that over the next few season Sterling will have his share of bad press but it must be difficult being in your early 20s and learning how to live a life where everyone does everything for you, most birds through themselves at you and money doesn’t matter as you have so much. Your basically being set up to be a wanker of a person.

Jamie Carragher though said recently that he isn’t the guy the press are trying to portray him as and he is a football loving lad who just wants to play.

What I do think though is that there is a decent footballer there and if he can get his head focused over the coming seasons, be happy at a club and have a steady personal life then on the pitch one team will get to reap the rewards.

My Neighbour (Dipper) reckons Sterling can only improve and grow at Liverpool, he said if he comes to City he'll warm the bench....

He also said "Pogba is shite, go for Isco"but we may not have first dibs there anyway it seems and that's another thread

Thats a fair and understandable reply GX. Like I said, I was not sure, but you make some decent observations and think your probably right. For our team I think he would be fantastic. Certainly take the pressure off him to be needed to carry a team like he has had to at Candlepool all season. He can only get better playing alongside Silva, Yaya and Aguero to name a few.

Sourness, Carragher, Barnes, Aldridge etc all coming out saying "he's achieved nothing, won nothing..." Have they not realised that's the precise reason he wants to move on?! They have massively misjudged the situation.

I agree he would be a fantastic signing for us, I'm more excited about him than any of the other potentials. The feeling I have is that we are favourites.

That's because your vision of city in 3/4 years, is comparable with the view today, it shouldnt be....

I agree with all of this, Sterling will most likely not end up as Messi or Ronaldo, but why on earth do everyone judge him like he's at his peak of his career. I believe Sterling can be a world class player when he's at his peak, which will be in 8 years time. I could understand if he was 27 and many of you believe he's overrated, but he's 20 years old, he plays with a very poor Liverpool team. Look how great he was last season, when he had great attacking players around him, and on the national team as well, he was one of the top performers at the World Cup for England. I firmly believe he'll improve a lot playing alongside our world class players, and now is a great opportunity to get him.

good comments.....I agree Sterling can only keep improving, injury free there is no reason he cant be a world class player in the next 3 or 4 years.... I forget how young he still is.....I just read a daily star comment(these guys must sit around just making stuff up) that says Jovetic would be happy to move as part of a swap deal for Sterling....never going to happen but that would be seem really strange seeing Jovetic AND Milner in the red shirt of Liverpool......
