[QUOTE"baildon blue, post: 8635905, member: 48893"]40 million and that's our final offer for him . Talking to Liverpool fan today he said Sterling value was about 20 million .
I have to say i agree with him .
Don't get me wrong he looks a promising player .
But he's not the real deal like Silva or Aguero .
No he isnt not yet but you couldnt buy either of them for under £70 million minimum these days. The other guy we loking at is he real deal in pogba and that is his price range. If walcott went for £15 million at 16 it gives you an idea of england player tax[/QUOTE]

Fuckin hell what do you expect him to say, they talk more fuckin shit than rags and gooners put together and multiplied .Of course he's worth the money and that's before his home grown tax.Without it he would still be in the region of £35 million,i'd pay it for the Chelsea goal alone !

I feel as though the club can't win this summer, both in terms of what the public perception will be of our business, and the way some of our own supporters will characterise it. The fact is in the market you can play two ways. You either play it cool, in which case you give your competitors plenty of time to also try and move in on your targets, but you save a few quid. Or you do what we're doing with Sterling and you get aggressive, knowing that you'll blow everyone else out of the water, but accepting to a greater or lesser extent you'll pay a higher fee.

My opinion is that this summer the smartest thing we can do is NOT compromise on the quality of players we want even if it means having to be aggressive and overpaying. I don't give a shit about whether some silly scouser thinks we overpaid, or in fact whether an equally silly City supporter thinks we've overpaid. If the club thinks the player is good enough and the manager wants him then that's all that matters. We are in the blessed position where we don't have to worry about the owner or the club running out of money or not being able to do other deals because they've spent too much on one.

Also, to say that we're desperate for Sterling because he's homegrown is nonsense. We're desperate for Sterling because he's arguably one of the top 10 wide attackers in Europe already and he's only just turned 20. His nationality just makes him more expensive, but ultimately a better long term investment than a foreign player because his marketing value as an England international is huge domestically, especially if he develops into the world class player which he looks like he will. If he was German or Spanish and we were trying to buy him we'd be talking the same ball park in terms of transfer fees.

great post , we have signed some average squad players like fernando , sagna , caballero , when we should have kept richards , milner and signed butland instead of caballero , even adam johnson was as good if not better than navas . But now we will end up paying 50m for sterling probably 30m for delph and possibly 35m for wilshire , and none of these players will improve our squad sufficiently to worry the rent boys next season or trouble bayern, barca or real in the champs league. But if we spent the above 115m on "foreign" players like De Bruyne , Pogba and Isco we would have a great chance of winning trophies next season .Despite winning the league in 2014 , the club has been mis managed regarding transfer dealings since Mancini left the club.

I agree entirely. We really need to move away from caring what people think about us. The fact is it's a sellers market. In that respect we are similar to Real Madrid where we are going to get fleeced by clubs time and time again. The only difference being nobody has the need to mock Madrid for paying £85 million for Bale because the fact is Real couldn't give a fuck what others think as they got the man they wanted.

How have we allowed ourselves to get into this position with home grown players? Without that we could tell Liverpool to piss off but instead they know we need him rather than go out and get a better player abroad for that price.

We could have got Schneiderlin last year instead of Fernando and that would have been a home grown player. We could have got a home grown back up keeper instead of Caballero. We could have got a home grown back up full back instead of Sagna. Plus doing more to keep Milner happy and we'd have a lot more leeway then.
