We shouldn't go higher than 40M. They need the money, this is one of those deals where we should have stopped showing interest when they turned down 30M and then go back in with a 40M bid on deadline day.

Actually I'd say they hold all the cards. They don't want to sell him as that would confirm to all the delusional dippers that they are no longer a big club. If he stayed there do you really think he would just sulk and refuse to play with the Euros next summer? No he'd get his head down play football. We just need to cough up the money and get him here as soon as possible so he can start to gel with Silva and Aguero.

He is worth whatever we are willing to pay!
Plus I don't think we as a club want to be doing last minute deals on dealine day for key targets.[/QUOTE]

Liverpool news: Manchester City ready to lodge third bid for Raheem Sterling
Liverpool winger will report for pre-season training on Monday but his future could be settled in the next seven days

Manchester City are poised to lodge a third bid for Liverpool winger Raheem Sterling this week.

Sterling will report for pre-season training at Liverpool on Monday with his participation in the club's pre-season tour - which departs for Bangkok on Sunday, July 12 - in increasing doubt.

Liverpool have so far rejected offers of £30millionand£40millionfor the England international but another bid is widely anticipated, with City likely to want to try and complete a deal quickly.

Liverpool, however, are determined to stand by their strict £50million valuation and will continue to adopt a hardline stance over Sterling's future.

The 20-year-old has refused to sign a contract extension at Anfield but still has two years left on his current deal, with Rodgers initially insisting he would not be sold this summer.

Now, however, Liverpool will reluctantly accept his departure if the right offer is made after bringing in a number of players this summer, including Roberto Firmino, Nathaniel Clyne, James Milner and Danny Ings.

Sterling has made no secret of his desire to play in a team competing for titles and the Champions League andused a controversial interview with the BBCto insist he was not a “money-grabbing 20-year-old” after rejecting a £100,000 a week contract offer towards the end of last season.

This is the signing I'm most excited for. His speed, trickery, agility. He's everything we need, and he's only going to get better. A born winner.

Would be funny as fuck if we didn't put in another bid and just left them hanging
