Random City Players

Patrick Roberts - 12.5mil for this "wonderkid"

3 apps and 6 loans in 7 years on our books, left on a free.

He made a big mistake coming to City. He was an excellent young prospect but was never good enough for us. The 'leap' was too great.

He should have stayed at Fulham to develop further, but you can't blame him for taking the opportunity, and Fulham no doubt saw £12.5m as great money for a breakthrough player.

Decent lad, decent career, including SPL medals. Better than most lads!

Had completely forgotten new Georgia president Kavelashivili had scored in derby in 96 at Maine Road and I was there! Can’t really remember him that well..

One of my favourite young players of recent years. I honestly can't believe he never 'made it' at top level.
For me he went missing too often in matches, yes he was capable of great moments of skill and scored a few belters for the youth sides but that can never be enough at the very top level, a bigger contribution is needed.

Not so much Paul Futcher, but his twin brother Ron signed for us as well in 1978. Paul centre half and Ron a centre forward. I was a regular spectator back then but I can barely remember either of them. Ron was sold to Oldham within a year.

(I was just reading about them in the online City Magazine. Completely forgot them>)

Ron Futcher scored a hat-trick in a 4-1 win at Chelsea in September 1978.

How the fuck did that happen then? Did he win a competition?
I remember seeing him play for City , he was signed for £2000 from Ashton United .My mate is an historian on Ashton and he showed me the letters they had to send to City asking for the money ,he said it took months for us to pay the fee.
