Rangers coming to Stretford

We can talk minorities in the sense of percentages of 100k. However, 50 peopel, 100 people, 200 people, whatever the figure, causing havoc having turned up ticketless for the game is still a significant mob of people for GMP to have to deal with.

It's funny how similar sized crowds at the Cheltenham festival, the Grand National and Glastonbury don't produce the same results.

It is well documented GMP are no angels and I would never defend their actions where they are heavy handed, disproportionate and illegal.

Where was the self control, the respect for the host city? I love a drink myself, but even when lashed up I've never behaved like that.

City fans are not backward at coming forward either but I've seen City fans misbehaving on away days and then seen them take a cuffing off fellow blues to wise them up.

I would be embarassed and ashamed to be a blue if it were City fans that had behaved like that - be it 1 fan or 1000 fans.

Like what pissing in the street - seen it from City fans (Old Trafford)
Drinking in the streets - seen it from City fans
Littering - seen it from City fans
Goading police - seen it from City fans
Fighting with police - seen it from City fans

So I assume from this you are ashamed to be a Blue. I'm certainly not, as I would never let a minority make me ashamed to be what I am - yes I can be ashamed of their actions, but not of being a blue.

Glastonbury 345 arrests (circa 178000 in attendance)
Grand National 5 Arrests (circa 55000 in attendance)
Cheltenham can't find figures
Manchester 41 Arrests (circa 150000 in attendance)

Looks like there were actually more arrests at Glastonbury - by a large margin.

No, as I said above it's official coaches from Ibrox to the DW stadium and then on to Old Trafford & straight back to the DW at fulltime with police escort from & to Wigan.

As I've said, City fans are not backward at coming forward. If City fans had behaved like Rangers fans did that night, yes, I would be ashamed as I am sure most right minded people probably would be.

According to the figures you have provided, Glastonbury certainly had more arrests, I'm assuming though few if any of the arrests at Glastonbury were as a result of mobs of lads running riot.

Your post suggested that crowds of people will always have nobs in them - agreed! However, it doesn't bear scrutiny with how the nobs in the Rangers crowd behaved compared with the other crowds at the other events I have pointed out.

Do you think all City fans should be tarnished due to the actions of a minority?

You're words - "yes I can be ashamed of their actions, but not of being a blue" - far better put and accurate to how I feel; ham fisted of me originally and I concede the point (you'll find I'll always hold my hands up when I'm wrong).

Sadly, these events aren't isolated for Rangers fans are they? The aggro on the night and the state of the city the next day actually shocked me. I've never seen anything like it. That's why I feel so strongly about it and why I'm hoping everything possible is done to prevent a mob coming down without tickets.

I can honestly say I know of no-one even thinking about travelling without a ticket to this match, a European final. I'm sure if/when we get to Dublin, we'll take a hell of a lot of fans without tickets.

As for is it an isolated incident, then I would have to say no - over the years there have been other incidents, but it is not indicative of the Rangers support as a whole or even as a majority - hence why I defended them.

Rangers support as a whole - fine
A minority of Rangers fans - twats.
