Moving forward to where exactly, with no money to buy or pay better players. If they find an alternative sum to allow a forward trajectory great. Where is this £1m per year coming from? If anybody thinks they are going to move anywhere but backwards, if they turn down that kind of money without identifying another income stream, they haven’t a fucking clue about business or football.

No, perhaps it's your lack of clue on how a business works and not theirs.

I'll explain, but I've no doubt the fingers will be firmly placed in your earhole so I'm not holding out any hope of understanding.

The 'quick fix' of financial income from any potential extra old firm fans is quickly diminished. Increased costs on stewarding, Policing, catering staff and covering the inevitable damage to the seats and pitch which occur on almost every occassion the two cheeks pay a visit.

In addition - the match day experience for home fans is much poorer. The family stand pre match activities would end, supporters would be reallocated from a seat which they paid £300+ to have and the disability access would be cut off from the home support.

Further than this, the fact a local business is prepared to put its regular customers first, ie it's own supporters and season ticket holders, is pivotal in any aspect of growth. Hence why they have 5,000 season ticket holders this season. Small potatoes in comparison, but the largest of any non city club in Scotland and infact larger than a couple of city clubs (St Johnstone and Dundee) too.

Old firm fans occupying 2 ends of a stadium puts off a section of home supporters from attending - that's been notable probably at Kilmarnock than at any other club in Scotland when the home support is regularly lower for these fixtures than fixtures against every other side in the league. It puts off potential season ticket holders who can't be fucked with the hassle.

Looking after the home support first and foremost is key and should be applauded, it reaps financial benefits in the long run. The whining and bitching from entitled old firm supporters about how clubs choose to look after their own fans is embarrassing.

The level of arrogance displayed in this post is the perfect example of why every non old firm fan I've met up here thinks the fans of these two clubs are the dregs of society.
Kilmarnock and St.Mirren would struggle to win the junior Cup.

Ok. I’m wasting my time. Crack on. I don’t dare if these clubs live or die. Choosing suicide seems to be the vibe.

Just as I'd expect, no actual response when it's laid out simply and logically. The clubs are benefitting financially from these decisions, suicide would be turning away their own supporters every week and every season as a consequence of showing their arse to old firm supporters.

You're not wasting your time, it's just that you've not actually said anything sensible on this subject. A shame because I see posts on other subjects from you as very reasonable in the main, but unfortunately your attitude is reflected amongst hundreds of thousands of other old firm fans throughout the country who can't see the forest for the trees.

I want the teams to get better. What fans you on about? They can’t even fill the sections they have. Anyway, enough already.,

The one's I've mentioned, the 5000 season ticket holders (was down below 3,500 just a few years ago). Whilst 5,000 is small in comparison to others, it's an undeniable growth which has been at least in part due to the club finally treating their own fans as a priority over a quick fix from old firm fans 3 or 4 times per season to the detriment of their own. It's also really reasonable number when you consider the size of the glory hunting riddled town and it's close proximity to Glasgow.

As you say, if you can't see the logic in that then enough already.

Pal wtf are you warbling on about.
Someone posted that the OF qualifying for CL was good for Scottish football,I posted it was good for the OF but not for the rest of the clubs.
I qualified this comment by saying that the uefa coefficient would improve, which technically could help other clubs qualify for the less glamourous tournaments.
Overall it makes the likelihood of a challenge to the OF less likely, almost impossible.
You posting about support and size of your clubs has got fuck all to do with the point I was making

Both OF teams in the UCL is good for the scottish game, gives some of the other teams the opportunity to go in the Europa, and so forth.

But reduces their chances of competing for a domestic trophy which as a fan I'd prefer over a short lived stint in Europe. It was already difficult enough, don't get me wrong, but old firm success in Europe will just continue to increase the difficulty level and widen the gap that bit further.

When they're qualifying for the CL group stages, I wouldn't expect to see any more St Johnstone cup doubles in that time. Still the best achievement of any Scottish side in a generation, a europa league win for either of the old firm wouldn't change that either.

The good thing about the Scottish Cup is there has not been an old firm final for 20 years.
Quite staggering really.

tbh same could be said about most of the other leagues where teams generally dont do well in europe.

I get what you mean though

Read the post mate I covered that point, for the umpteenth time the CL money the OF will make dwarfs any revenue the others can make in the other tournaments.
As a result of this it makes it harder to bridge the already enormous gulf making it even less competitive than it is now, simples.

To be honest, there's not been a non old firm league winner for the best part of 40 years, champions league or no champions league. So I'm not sure you are even able to widen the gap.

However, I'm sure Hearts & their fans will have a great time in European football this year. It might not be winning the league but that's never happening anyway. However a European adventure, that will make their season. Imagine a couple of clubs a season guaranteed group football in the Europa or Conference league. They won't give a feck about the Old Firm, they'll be too busy enjoying themselves.

It’s been non competitive for nearly 40 years. In the 1980’s, four different clubs won the league title. Hearts should also have added to this total but for bottling it in the final few minutes of the final game of the season.
Scottish football is a total backwater now. It’s either us or them. Any game we draw is a potential title loser. There is no competition and Scottish football is all the poorer for it and it’s not going to change. Nobody wants to invest in it.

Absolutely spot on, along with many other countries, ffp has now closed them as ever becoming competitive (as unlikely as that may be anyway).

Hearts will make a right few bob in Europe to strengthen more. I thought they were really good, just couldn’t score in a barrel of Fannie’s. Then that dumplin fucked them up. Young Cochrane looks a player and McKay was excellent too.
