Yeh Tav certainly divides opinion. Lol
Firstly you have to remember we signed Tav when a championship team and its to his credit that he has developed into the player he is. Not many get the chance to captain their club in a European Final and come so close to lifting the trophy
Tav is not the best defensively but what he lacks there he more than makes up in his attacking ability and his dead ball prowess. He was the leading goal scorer in the Europa League the year we reached the final. Incredible for a full back.
As far as playing him further forward. Gerard tried that when he brought in Flanagan but it just never worked out for some reason. Tav just wasn’t as effective
As for Sundays roasting by Maeda. Tav has always struggled against him and Maeda saves his best for these games. I don’t like criticising the manager , who has been excellent, but I thought Barisic left back, Tav Right back and Sterling in place of Scott Wright was the obvious selection.
There is a rumour doing the rounds that Gerard wants to take Tav to Saudi. I honestly believe that might be rest all round. He ll certainly go with my best wishes as he’s been a great servant but we have found another cracker in Dujon Sterling. Not sure how long we ll keep him but lads played all over the park in the last few months.
